I can answer this one: The rental rate is taxed, but the cleaning fee is not. If we included the cleaning fee in the rental rate, the guest would be charged 12.75% tax on the cleaning fee (9.75% state and 3% county).

It's always amazing to see prices at $2,000 or more for TVs and Stereos then. That's in those dollars. $6,000 or more adjusted for inflation. TV had been around a while, as had devices to listen to music. And they were paying more than $6,000 in our dollars for it. What a huge investment just getting a good TV was. I'm shopping around if a 70" TV is $500 in our dollars.

I spent the night at London Gatwick. I was 21 and had an early flight to go back home. I found a group of seats to lay on and had my luggage situated where if anyone took something it would be noticeable to me and wake me up. There was a very attractive woman who was about my age across from me who did the same thing. It helped me go to sleep knowing she was there. When I woke up after about 35-45 minutes, she saw I was awake and went right to sleep. Then she woke up and I went to sleep…and so on and so on…. I never actually talked to her – seemed at the time like it would be creepy, but we watched out for each other most of that night.
