another good point, when the mortgage company receives notification that their property is not covered, they will give the mortgagee an opportunity to bring the policy up date and they don't do so they will purchase a policy that protects them, not the mortgagee, in the event of damages, and will be tacked on to the mortgage and will probably be more expensive than a typical homeowner policy
In my case, it was the property tax estimate. They were using the previous owner's property tax, who had the senior citizen discount. My actual property tax was 5x higher.

Never heard of quarterly pay?
it goes like this issuing a policy.
you click on the pay plan option
it has a box saying the amount needed to pay for policy.
you process payment for said needed amount.
it ain't like an agent is taking out a calculator and saying "hmmm let me figure out what amount we can pay today".

if he recently closed on a house that he didn't pay cash for, and there are exceptions, because I don't escrow if I don't have to, but many lenders won't even schedule a closing without proof of a fully paid policy in effect prior to closing, some type of loans require this
ETA: you're angry at yourself for being so stupid in this thread, and now you're just making shite up

Exactly, amazing the amount of people that think they can just pay whatever they want and the policy will stay in effect. Theres down payment requirement, then you can choose a 4 pay, 12 pay, etc..

if money is owed for a non payment issue, notices go out to the policy holder. end of story.
And they didn't, you idiot. This has been communicated several times.

I find that hard to believe, they 100% sent that notice. Now whether your intermediary used the right address or email who knows.

post the notice of cancellation letter you received.

Did you ever get a refund ? Did you ever get a mailed cancellation ? If you paid any money at all you should have had at least that amount of days in coverage. How long has this been going on?

Strange thing is as an insured you cant just demand how you want to pay most companies have payment plans or premium financing. Never heard of someone saying yea let me just pay it once every 3 months.
Then why did the new agent with the same company do it automatically?

well yes, quarterly pay has to be offered in order for someone to say they want to do quarterly pay
I am honestly not sure how an agent can make that mistake. The only thing I can think of is that this was one of the companies that allow you to input payment amount. But with a minimum pay/downpay directly listed it would seem that the agent would have essentially pulled the incorrect number out of thin air. Must either be a captive agency or a surplus lines carrier
Or he thought it was quarterly and it was actually monthly or 10 pay and thus he missed payment because he was not expecting one

That’s why the agent has Errors & Omissions insurance. If it were their fault, I’d be turning my damages over to the agent’s insurance and let my lawyer handle depending on the amount of damage. This one could go either way as policyholder should have noticed a discrepancy. But the “should” vs any ambiguity/confusion would be up to court. That’s my guess, not an atty.

You would have been covered by “Errors and Ommissions” probably
