its usually within 24-48 hours after claim inspector does his estimate

sounds to me like you are about to be denied your claim and you better start looking for a lawyer

My last wreck (hit a deer in Central) was about a 36 hour turnaround. Call a lawyer.

Totaled my truck last year and it took about two or three weeks for the claims adjuster to look at my truck then another week for the insurance company to tell me it was a total loss.

I had to call the insurance company several times to make sure progress was being made on the estimate at the body shop.

130 days is insane.

As the title states, how long should an insurance company take to make a decision if a car is totaled or not? Going on 130 days currently and it’s aggravating as heck!

No reason to take more than 2-3 wks.

Why would you post this shite and then tell a story where it really isn't totalled? You just want it totalled. frick that.
My only question is why haven't repairs started?

During backlogged times in Covid, it took them 4 months to decide and I used their rental. Bunch of idiots. Then they said you have 3 days to return rental.

They are not smart and helping to ruin your rates. OP trying to game the system.

I totaled 2 vehicles in 6 months. First took a week. Second one took 2 weeks. Have always been pleased with Farm Bureau.
