Obviously most people would prefer neither, but I'm hearing if they get rid of inspection stickers they will require front plates.

I hope you’re wrong. Otherwise, what’s the point? Replace one unnecessary revenue builder with another.

Front license plates suck arse. Why can't we have at least one good thing in this state?

This would be an absolute cluster frick. It would take years for the state to get around to making an extra plate to match your rear plate.

I believe the plates are made by inmates at Angola

Again, just add $10 per year to the vehicle registration and be done with it

If that is the case just stick with the inspection sticker.

I’ve had my front plate on in Texas exactly zero times and yet to get screwed with. But then again our cops are quite a bit less on the collect and serve mentality than La. They’ll def be using it for revenue generations for more swat gear and questionable OT.

My truck has no place for a front plate, winch bumper with no provisions.

Ok. But there are still 3.8MM cars in Louisiana that would need another plate.

I couldn’t find Louisiana stats, but Michigan prisoners make 2.5MM plates a year. They would have to make 1 additional plate for each of the 3.8MM people plus they would have to make double the amount of plates that they would normally make over that year and a half that it would take for them to make all the plates.

I guess they could allocate more inmates to cut the time down some, but Angola is also a farm so something else would have to be put on the back burner.

Then, you the state would still have to mail all those plates out. So we are talking literal years to make this happen

When I picked up a new car, there were holes in the front bumper. Had them replace the bumper so I didn’t have to see those shitty holes. Front plates look like shite.

Just do a phase in.

Add the 2nd plate fee to all registrations and renewals, and all new vehicles sold after x date will have new plates. Older vehicles will be grandfathered in or you could require dealers to add it when it is resold and reregistered.

I guess toll operators and traffic camera operators want that extra shot of the driver and front plate to prove you passed the toll collection readers.

Now what would be nice is if they could add toll tags on the plate without having to affix it to a windshield. That way everyone’s plate is a toll tag. No more separate tags for the Causeway and LA 1 Bridge and future bridges like Belle Chasse and Lake Chuck bridge if that ever gets off the ground.

Also, Louisiana needs to join in with other states to allow Geauxpass users to use their tags in other states and Geauxpass will collect tolls from drivers with Texas Tags or Sun Passes.

Often the simplest solution is the best.

Excellent idea.

I’m hoping the proposal will include exempting antique vehicles with registered period correct plates. I wonder if they even thought about it.
