I do all the cooking in my house, so it's going to be a gas stove for me.
The big question for the OP is who is the person doing the most cooking, and go with that. If it's your wife and she likes a gas stove, then get a gas stove.
As for cleaning, it really isn't all that hard to do and the pieces do come apart very easy. Two screws a burner on my stove and they're off----no wiring to fool with, just disassemble, clean and replace.

I'm sure it isn't the case everywhere but my local gas company put my line in for free.
As I upgrade my house I'll be adding in another gas line off the T I had put in for the other appliances.
I would kill to have them randomly decide "hey, we are going to service your neighborhood now and run lines to all the houses"

Anyone ever cooked on an induction stove?
A friend of mine has one and I've cooked at her house before. Those pots and pans get HOT quick and it can be a little tricky at first adjusting heat ranges when cooking, but like with anything else, you'll get use to it.
It is weird to me, almost witchcraft weird how the pots and pans get so hot so fast and you can touch the burner surface and not get burned.

I know they do it for free in Portland so I called my local company and asked.
3 weeks later I had a gas line put in, for free.

My wife says she wants to buy an electric stove. I promise TD this... If she buys an electric stove over a gas stove, I will divorce her. (No pics for reference)

If you have the option I just don't see the point. Gas is almost universally preferred for serious cooks and appears to be the preferred option for aesthetic reasons. Everyone wants an industrial-style gas range (at least in our area).

Might want to consider a gas range top with an electric oven, best of both worlds.

It doesn't matter if you don't cook a lot. I will never have an electric top stove though

The stove I have is not only gas but is also 100% mechanical. Don’t have to worry about power surges or anything taking it out. Although, there are lightbulbs in there so I suppose it runs on electricity for that only.
