All of the ones I’ve seen on google are north of $2000.

Good God. I’m glad we got our golden retriever for free when he was a puppy because his owner couldn’t take care of him. They’re the greatest dogs in the world though. They’re really incredible.

I have three goldens and wouldn't trade them for anything. We got our English cream from a breeder outside of Orlando for 2100. The other two were full breed goldens but needed to be rehomed. We got both under a year old my wife works for a rescue so as soon as they became available we got first dibs. The others are a full American Golden and the other is called a field Golden because they are long and lean with a reddish coat. For the OP check rescues in and around your area you might get lucky.

My wife bought Nelson from Triple L in Many, LA. He’s 5.5 years old and is a wonderful dog - obedient, affectionate, gentle with my kids, calm and relaxed. Well, the relaxed part began when his puppy stage ended. The wife and I always say we can’t think of a time in life that we won’t want a golden.

Also, the shedding thing is a bit overblown in here. I lived with my brother and his black lab years ago and the shedding was far worse. The difference is fur versus hair - golden hair takes longer to flake off. To remedy some of the hair issues we give him a buzz cut a few times a year.

It would be a long haul, but I know them and should be well below $2000.

Find your local golden retriever rescue. Ive had two dogs from two different golden rescues. One was a golden and the other a golden mix. Both were great dogs.
