Pretty sure those ideas did not originate in France.

Where did they come from? I thought all of Derrida, Foucault, Lyotard and Baudrillard were French and the originators of deconstructionism and postmodernism. I’m no expert, though.

Modern Leftist ideas largely come from certain French philosophers in the 18th century (Rousseau being one). The first application of authoritarian Leftist government came in the form of the Committee of Public Safety and its Reign of Terror early 1790s.

Marx was Prussian, but his bullshite evolved from those earlier French examples.

Thank God for Adam Smith and John Locke

It’s seems France is moving away from American ties and becoming more independent. Which is a good thing

It’s ironic that a left leaning newspaper like the NYT would cover a story that appears to at least call into question the leftist ideology of many of its readers.

I read the times and I hate identity politics bullshite. It’s a good paper for international news.

It’s ironic that the ideas they are fighting against originate from, you guessed it, France.

I share your opinion, but this garbage, like all the worst philosophy, comes from Germany. fricking Hegel.

I guess it depends on who you think spawned modern academic thought in this area. I always thought it was the French Postmodernists who wrapped up communist thought in a more deconstructed manner and talked about power rather than the proletariat. I suppose the fountainhead could be Marx and his influences.
