I think this might be the best idea yet.

That is really the best case scenario to your plan, but personally I think you'd fail at hitch hiking and then the authorities would be there within 20 minutes to give you a ride to jail.

OK, then throw out the hitchhiking. From my office, it's about a 20-30 minute drive to the first exit in the basin. What if I pack my duffel bag, drive to the basin, exit and drive my car down one of the back dirt roads, ditch my car in the woods and camouflage as best I can. I could do this in an hour.

Eventually, it will be found. But no one knows that I did this, so they don't start looking in the basin. Does that change things?

this could work unless someone else decided this is what they'd do, and they go looking

Buy scooter/bike with cash, use that to get to grave, arrive with flowers as to appear normal, fold scooter and take it in with me.

Seal door from inside. Still working on this.

not true

they just can't know you're you

the only disguise you could come up with in that short allotment of time would be a homeless guy. Dirt all over your face, scraggly clothing, walk with a limp, speak in a different accent and shave your head

Well I bet they would connect the dots from a hostage situation in the same city an international manhunt is going down

Its moot, he is not building a bomb, a dead man trigger, creating an effective disguise and getting to a bank vault in under an hour in a way that doesn't connect to his true identity.

Once they found the first one and realized what you did, do you really think they are then going to expend great resources chasing the other four thinking they are you? Do you think the best intelligence and law enforcement agencies in this country are fricking imbeciles?

no matter where you hide, you absolutely have to have a disguise

Not terrible. Once they figured out your vehicle, they would be able to track you with traffic cams.

Much better actually. The hitchhiking was your weak point.

I'd sink the car though and you'd have a better chance IMO.

This is a fun thread, but I think the one hour time constraint is the limiting factor. And not knowing if someone just says GO and you have to leave then, or if you can plan ahead, limits it even further. I live in a densely populated area in Birmingham. An hour to grab supplies and transportation without leaving a trail is impossible. If you are already in a remote area with supplies, it could give you a 2-3 day advantage. But I don't see not being found in 5 days. Unless you're Waldo.

Traffic cams. They would know which exit you took, greatly limiting their search area.

Above ground grave would work as long as nobody saw an alive human trying to pull themselves into an above ground grave with a sack of supplies.

That's highly suspicious behavior and is noticeable if just one person sees. Regardless of whether they can identify you

Invest life savings into companies that make flashlights and walkie-talkies.

Entire world starts searching for me. Flashlights and walkie-talkies fly off shelves.

Now richest man on earth. Hide under giant pile of money while banging OT 10s.

I forgot where I was going with this.

well in a hostage situation you call the cops because you have demands. In this situation I'd just have them tell their employer the family all caught the flu from each other. Then I'd tie em up in the closet. You'd have to be convincing though in order for the family to not think you're the one guy everyone is looking for. You'd need a good story and would need to scare the hell out of them.

Dont need one if you are already in the area. Hell you got an hour. This plan doesnt involved much.

well i'm not going to answer this.

but I know once the first one is found they are going to realize it...but 5 going 5 different ways...would make them confused and kill time trying to find which one to go after first, and they would likely go to all 5 of them, exhausting a few resources...

but in your case, if they give up after the first one, then why dont I just hop on a greyhound myself as a 6th phone and take the cross country trip for 7 days?
