My father is 66 and loves fishing. His birthday is also in December so I decided to offer chartering a boat to fish (which he loves to do) and he refuses saying don’t want anything.
Can you old baws stop stressing out your family? Just pick something damn.
I'm 64. About 2 months ago I told my wife "Don't buy me anything for Christmas. Tell your mom not to buy me anything for Christmas. I have enough stuff. Spend that money on the grandkids."
I did not get the reaction I expected. I excpected her to be relieved. Instead, she got pissed.
WTF???
So, what I've been doing is ordering myself little things that I need. Nothing that costs more than $50, but like 10 things. I give them to my wife and say "You can wrap these for me and put them under the tree."
Now she tells me to stop because I have more stuff under the tree than anyone else, LOL!

Agreed. I don't need or want anything. I'm trying to get rid of stuff.

My grandkids and wife (no pics, we're old) always ask over and over again what I want for Christmas. I will usually pick something really simple, not too expensive or a gift card to Academy, Lowes or Bass Pro. I'll be 61 next month and I've reached the age where I don't really need more useless trinkets. It's wasteful to me. I buy what I need most of the time for projects around the house or working on cars/truck/camper/tractor. I'm not so much in the acquiring stage of my life any longer. I get more pleasure in blessing others or receiving a card/note from my granddaughters, that my wife and I raised. I'm pretty simple. Life is nicer that way. Merry Christmas and may God bless y'all!

stolen from a friends post on FB:
"Here's the deal: Every dad has 3 or 4 things he likes, no more, no less. When people say dads are hard to buy for, they really mean its hard to buy something outside those 3 things. But here's the secret, men that age don't want their horizons expanded. Just get them something they already like, or don't, its fine."
So buy the chartered fishing trip. Tell him you are going with him!

Yes
I am 68 and it actually gets easier to buy me birthday or Christmas gifts.
I like music-so I just give my kids and gf a list of CD's/albums I want.
I may need some new kitchenware once in a while-I will specify exactly what I need.
I like to read-so I just give them a list of books..
I am a simple man...I don't need much...if I need something I just go buy it.

someone on here suggested man crates for a teenager so I checked them out and I'm pretty sure you can find something for your dad there.

Not sure if I'm an old man or not but I am a grandpa. A couple of birtdays ago my future son in law got me some good weed for my birthday. You might try that.

China and is how I feel. Stop buying useless crap. I’m good with a nice prime rib for dinner, don’t need Chinese made shite.
