The trial for a councilman in Baker who was arrested for allegedly stealing a moon pie, hit a snag today. Givens is accused of eating a banana moon pie and hiding the wrapper. When he got caught, he allegedly flashed a badge and threatened the store worker. He was arrested on theft charges, and was also accused of abusing his power.

Those banana moon pies are legit.

I haven't had one in a minute. I'm going to go ahead and say that this is understandable. When you have a craving you have a craving.

Does he know that during a certain time of year you can find moon pies littered on the street for free in New Orleans?

This thread made me hungry. I'll have an official ruling on this later.

No way this really happened. No one would steal a banana moon pie. Chocolate would be believable.

I've probably slapped thousands of banana Moon pies to the ground during Mobile Mardi Gras. I don't think I ever saw a moon pie on in Nola Mardi Gras.

Is it the ones that have marshmallow in the middle? This is no bullshite, I ate one for the very first time yesterday. Its not something that we ever eat, but for some reason there were a box of them in the kitchen last night and I went ahead and ate one before going to bed. Not bad.

I like to put mine in the refrigerator.
I'm convinced that most small town cops are just trashy red necks in uniforms.

Surprised he didn't try to steal an R-Uh C cola to wash it down.

I mean, they definitely arent as big of a thing as in Mobile, but theres plenty of moon pies at Nola parades as well.
Source: Ive eaten many moon pies during Mardi Gras in Nola and even Houma

The moon pie is a footnote. Flashing a badge and threatening the clerk is another story entirely, especially over a moon pie.

I wouldn't say that flashing a badge to steal candy is routine in small Louisiana towns.....but this is unfortunately not the first time I've heard of it occurring.
