Heres what I'm talking about.

I have a 2020 dark gray 4dr 4x4 tacoma. Thinking of getting these steel FJ wheels.

Why not? Can’t think of anything that could go wrong.

Added weight, rust are a couple of the things I've heard mentioned.

Some tweaker's gonna have a hell of a binge when he leaves your rig sitting on cinder blocks.

For steelies?

Steel wheels are heavier, which impacts ride and handling. They rust almost instantaneously in South Louisiana. They're actually not that durable; base-model Imprezas used to destroy them pretty frequently at rallycross events. (I think Subaru finally upgraded to alloys across-the-board.)

Their only real advantage is 1) they're cheap and 2) if you put hubcaps over them, you don't really have to worry about fricking them up.

What’s wrong with the stock wheels?

The TRD OR wheels look pretty good IMO. I’d keep them until they looked worn out.

I dont want hubcaps. I want the plain black look.

They are cheap as frick.

I dont do a whole lot of rough riding. I'm just dont want to kill my mpg and acceleration.

I drive pretty boring, to boring places....like work, gym, publix, home.

I dont have the TRD wheels. I have the old man wheels and tires.

Which I do plan to use til the tires are wore out.

I basically have the 2wd Tacoma wheels and tires on mine. And that's ok, but when I need new tires I plan to upgrade a little.

Try the 4Runner TRD wheels. They look good and they have the same bolt pattern.

I wouldn’t do steelies. The only good thing about them is that they are cheap.

Yeah those 4runner TRD look sharp. I saw a 4runner same color as my truck with them today and liked it.

I'm just kinda hung up on the retro/vintage look of the bullet holes. I can always get after market in that style.

Saving a little money wasn't the primary factor but a nice bonus.

1) heavier, more rolling resistance, less mpgs

2) more unsprung weight will negatively affect handling

3) will eventually rust

Beautiful wheels. I love “black steelies”. I have a 17” set for my Jeep wrapped in 40” rubber as my street tires. My trail/offroad tires are 39” red labels wrapped around procomp beadlocks.

My take: good choice, frick aluminum!

Which wheels do you have? I plastidipped my crap wheels on my 2nd gen and it worked well for several years til I sold it. I have 2020 pro wheels on my 3rd gen.

These. Which are apparently steel too. I thought about trying to black these until I needed new tires just to see how it looked, but heard mixed reviews on the plastidip.
