At this point, I'm actually starting to doubt that. I've got 25 pages of people saying "You're wrong", "You're an idiot" and folks that either appear to or claiming to practice law telling me that the judge is going to toss this. They were ALL wrong. So he DOES have to have a Tax ID to file taxes bit I'm starting to doubt that it HAS to be a SS#. Maybe it does but I'm done listening to those that "know better" than I do. I'm going to start doing my own research on this.
You were right.
You’re still an idiot.

Last time I checked... a driver's license was not a right and is issued by the state. It's state law genius.
Enjoy your legal fees in exchange for your son maybe getting a license in two years.

Would you rather be right or happy?
The Value of Truth vs. Well-being: The question explores the tension between intellectual accuracy and personal happiness or well-being.
Context Matters: The best choice depends on the situation. In some cases, being right is essential, while in others, prioritizing happiness and maintaining harmony is more important.
The "Being Right" Trap: The need to be right can sometimes lead to unnecessary arguments and conflicts, even when the stakes are low.
The Power of Acceptance: Cultivating the ability to accept different perspectives and let go of the need to be "right" can foster more positive and fulfilling relationships.
Happiness as a Choice: Happiness is often seen as a state that can be cultivated and chosen, while being right can sometimes feel like an external validation that is difficult to control.

Well, you're wrong. I have a signed Judgment from a state court that my son will get his license after completing driver's ed.
I even posted the paragraph stating such.
Great reading skills, Genius...

Awesome! It was obvious by your first post that you were correct. What wasn’t obvious was the state doing the right thing and complying. Bravo, sir. You found an error in our government and you walked the walk. 99% of us on this board would just bitch about it but you actually took action.
Yup
Need more people like that. Would be amazing in Congress. You know people that find stupid shite like this and fix it.

Congrats dude. Now enjoy your son being aggravated at you when he needs to get a job, rent an apartment, take out a loan, or do anything else an adult has to do.

Are you planning to sue every loan officer and potential employer that crosses paths with your son? You probably know what they’re going to ask for.

Most people just think your stance on the SSN and the fact that because of your own choices you had to fight this battle in the first place is idiotic. Just because you fought and won doesn't make you "right." It just means you found a loophole to justify your idiotic idiosyncrasies. Again, you wasted my taxpayer dollars getting a judgment that literally benefits only you. Congrats! Now stop wasting everyone's time and making your kid's life harder.

Because the Office of Motor Vehicles had a policy in direct violation of State and Federal law. It's just that simple.
Should state agencies be able to make policies in violation of the law?
Having a policy that is in violation of the law does not mean that someone was harmed. Nice of you to avoid answering the question by creating a new strawman argument. Of course state agencies should not make policies in violation of the law.
You won't answer the question I asked because you know the only answer is that the "harm" here was to your precious idea about not getting your kid a SSN. It's cute and all until he encounters the real world.

Is the judgment subject to appeal?

So you're lying about the outcome cause we all know it's bullshite.

Dude thinks he’s taking a stand for something. The reality is he’s making his kid’s life hell.
How do I know this? My mom pulled this same stunt when I was a kid. When it was time to start applying for TOPS and other scholarships she finally realized the jig was up. But it was too late. I missed deadlines because I didn’t have a number that could verify my identity.

If it pisses off little twerps like you... yes.. yes they should.
You remind me of a guy here... gets on Nextdoor and threatens to sue Kroger/WalMart/Whomever... if he goes to check out and the prices is like a penny higher than they have marked... or if a item is CLEARLY in the wrong place and CLEARLY mispriced because of that... he bitches and whines and moans because somebody put something back wrong... just a whiny little man.

The department shall not deny any person a driver's license or a renewal if that person has not obtained a government-issued social security number based on Section 7 of Pub. L. 93-579 Section
quote:
(1) It shall be unlawful for any Federal, State or local government agency to deny to any individual any right, benefit, or privilege provided by law because of such individual’s refusal to disclose his social security account number.
Maybe this has been answered since this started in November, but the above quotes are not talking about exact same thing unless there is a different publication.
Besides whether or not the federal law applies to driver’s licenses which would require reviewing federal statutes including the Real ID one It’s about not disclosing your SSN that you have obtained. The Louisiana law is referencing not obtaining a SSN not refusing to disclose one that you have obtained.
Did you have to state your kid hadn’t gotten one or just that you were refusing to disclose? If you had to say you were refusing to disclose under the federal law for people refusing to disclose their SSN that they have obtained is that lying under oath when your kid doesn’t have one?

Holding back a right or privilege from someone unless they do something not required by law is harm.
What if you went to the DMV and before you could get a license they made you give 20 bucks to the their office party fund. It's just 20 bucks, right? Or would you have a problem with it?

They can appeal it but the quote above is why I believe they won't. If they do appeal it, they will lose.
