It's an overrated city that has gotten constantly fellated by folks recently

if you don't drink or enjoy drinking cultures and hate jazz, what does Nola offer?
i think the main issue you (and others) have is that you analyze to be something it will never be
its a boutique city, with good weather, a great restaurant/bar scene, nice parks, weekly festivals/activities, which can be biked in under 20 minutes from one end to the next, and there are a lot of single people.
i dont even drink that much, but its quite stupid to say thats the only thing enjoyable out the city

I'm not really serious, bro. Just a little bit.

it's more about comparing it to similar cities

i can say the same thing about a lot of the competition discussed. not Houston but certainly Austin
and in Austin, you avoid epic levels of crime while having all of those options

and if we're comparing it to a Houston, Dallas, etc?
beyond idiotic comparisons
those cities have huge populations/industries
one of the reasons i personally enjoy nola is because it does not have that cookie cutter feel.

That still doesn't explain the compulsion to shite on a place you don't live over and over and over again. It's like who are you trying to convince and what exactly are you trying to convince them of?
I find myself thinking this every time I read a Nola thread on here. Although your entire post articulated it much better than I would have.

then if we're sticking in the region it's Nola v. Austin and Austin buttfricks Nola (as i said above

You're silly.

I have lived in both and all things being equal (friends, family, job) the crime is the only thing that would make me think about picking Austin over NOLA

So, your defense is to compare it to one of, arguably, the top 5 cities in the country. And one of the most vibrant cities in the world right now with hipsters.
Seriously, pick an argument and stay with it.

Eh you can bike around the best parts. Round Rock and Georgetown aren't Austin.
ATX proper is crowded as hell but it's not geographically a huge place

ive spent a lot of time in austin (friends live there)
i like the outdoors scene compared to nola but yea, its a totally different animal

i meant, like one could realistically bike to uptown and the bywater in under 20 minutes in nola.
its unique in that regard
youre not going to be able to bike from one end of austin to the next

They are very different places
I like Austin a lot but it's not a slam dunk better than Nola, at least to me.

No but you could bike from 51st street to SoCo fairly painlessly (not in July or August)
