You're right Africans did sell defeated tribes into slavery. Mind you that African based slavery was more akin to a lower class economic status versus being purely human cattle for most tribes.

. But lets be rational. The slave trade was so popular in the Trans Atlantic that Europeans would have taken over tribes to sell them off regardless.

Partically in the Greater Antilless where sugar cane growth was very profitable (that's where most slaves BTW)

Sooooo you're saying black males actually don't commit a disproportionate amount of crime and they're being targeted unfairly? You are a shining example of the real problem in this country

Well yeah, we pass our experiences down to our offspring so they don't have to experience the struggles themselves.

I've had living family members have guns pulled on them and told to "Dance...." you know the rest. As a kid helping his dad clean hallways at a&m, my grandfather was told by a professor at my own alma mater 60 years before I got my degree that "a ni**** will never get a degree from this school...".

People who are STILL alive, walking and talking have had dogs sicked on them, shot with hoses, had things thrown at them, etc. So yes, there is spite and there is an inferiority complex because the US Government LEGALLY recognized Blacks as UNEQUAL to whites for 4 times longer in this country than its recognized blacks as equal.

I hate that they grow up believing I hand more opportunities and privileges than them.

But what if you did? It's not your fault if that's the case, which I don't know that it is. But I think what would really make a difference is recognizing that those opportunities and privileges exist or at least existed and that people HAVE benefitted from that.

But it’s def a conversation that is had

I'll just leave you with this: My family owns several hundred acres in east tx. there is a white family that has land adjacent to ours and shares lots the same borders. My grandfather had this land surveyed in '69 for oil. a lease was drawn, terms agreed upon, etc. The landman went to the courthouse one day to check the borders and finalize drafts, etc. The landowners adjacent to ours just happened to have a cousin who was a judge. Before my gf signed they rescinded the offer and terms agreed upon. Later that year the same company had working wells on the property adjacent to ours and still do to this day.

That's not a unique story and it's by far not the worst I've heard. Sometimes people just want you to recognize and acknowledge the fricked up shite that's happened.

no, i'm saying that everything has a genesis. it's not as simple as who proportionally commits the most amount of crime. You have to ask why and when did this begin to happen.

all things equal, if you target one group over another, you're creating the criminal group. you cut them off from jobs, resources, education, you're leaving them with no other choices but to be criminals. So of course, that's what they will do.

How do you know the other family didn't offer a better price to set up on their land? Are you convinced that it was done just because you are black and that family is white due to what you are told? I'm not stating this is fact, but you can't believe everything you are told.

Not gonna quote you’re whole story but do you think they lease was rescinded and moved next door because of skin color, or because that land owner had connections?

I’m sure you’ll argue those connections were made available because he was white. Guess it’ll always be whiteys fault when things don’t work out

Oh Lort. The Gary Chambers argument.
When will it be time to own your decisions? Noone forces anyone to be criminals.

Exactly,no matter what advantage is given in today's society the debt will never be settled for some because they don't want it to be

first of all, it's minorities.

and the point which you've obviously been missing is those groups do not have a backlog going back 200 years of systematic oppression and subjugation by law.

what you do not seem to understand is that our position in life greatly is determined by that of our parents. if your parents started with a clean slate and all they see is hope and opportunity, you grow up viewing the world around you in a particular way.

however, if your parents were segregated, beaten, thrown in jail, and taught they were unequal, you grow up viewing the world around you in a vastly different way.

Do you understand now?

Exactly. It boils down to personally responsibility.

Millions upon millions of people are born every day into poverty and “unfair” circumstances. Many of them pick themselves up and better themselves and their situation...
