Yeah so what if a 16 or 17 year old doesn't drive yet? Are they not allowed to have a cell phone either?

you serious? Land lines are dirt cheap and really are good when cell towers are down

This has never been an issue for me. I can't remember the cell towers around here ever being "down".

Its 2017 everyone who leaves the house needs a damn phone. Simply a matter of safety and security.

We don't have a landline so mine will get one when they start staying home alone some.

You live in the PNW? Think earthquakes. Phone lines stay up when every other damn thing is down.

Meh. I'm not going to keep one around for a once every 50 year event.

No. I rarely ever have to use that feature but it's there if I ever have to.

Too many parents trying to live vicariously through their own children and wanting to make them the cool kid with the phone.

Almost all of them have phones now. The cool factor is gone.

My first cell phone was a Motorola bag phone in high school in 1991.

Dude it's 2017 and cellphones (smartphones) are a part of life. You don't NEED one either, but you have it. This shite is retarded. There's tons of technology that no one needs, but everybody has it. A cell phone is now one of those items that is almost a necessity in today's society.

There is a bit of irony in staring into a screen to type a complaint about people staring into screens.

My son is 13 and he gets homework assignments via text, apps and email. He also snaps, emails and text with his teachers and coaches when he has questions. It's perfectly normal this day in age.

Hey dude.......you also know he is getting all the answers to his home work too.....they dont do anything on their own......except text each other the answers. Check into that.
