I aint tipping no way 99% of the time. Im not calling in food and going to pick it up and you shove an option for a tip in my face. Im not going to sit inside and have you bring me my food, only for me to have to wave you down everytime i need a refill or condiment, and you bring my receipt asking for a tip. F all that

Servers suck a lot of the time, and in some instances it's because of shitty people like this.

I will admit I felt guilty at first when these started popping up and I’d tip. It’s been a couple years now and they are absolutely everywhere. I gladly hit no tip at this point. It’s having a negative effect. You see one beggar and you feel bad, you see hundreds and you get pissed off

But let's be 100% honest, that's a you problem.

I don't have that issue. I've said in this thread before, I tip exactly the same amounts and for the same things I tipped on 10 years ago. There is quite literally nothing that has happened that has forced or made me change my tipping habits, and that goes for everyone.

You choose to be mad at something that has no bearing on your life or decision making, that's on you.

Just keep tipping like you always have and stop worrying about non issues.

And like that, I just solved your problem and you no longer have to be pissed off. You're welcome

Have some of you never traveled outside the USA?

The service at every restaurant I have been to in every other country has been great, including a McDonald’s in Amsterdam in the train station.

They function fine without tipping.

The culture is established. It doesn't just magically become like Europe if we completely change the process.

I'm not saying we should or shouldn't do it, just pointing out that just because it's always worked in another country does not mean that it will work here.

The problem starts with you ordering a "latte" from a "barista". I can smell the soy in this post.

Amazing that dude gets shitty service right. If your personality flags the server youre gonna be a dick and tip poorly, youre gonna get similar treatment to how you treat people.

Went to dinner last night with some friends. You order at the counter. He ordered and clicked the 15% tip. I ordered and hit the NO TIP.

In this restaurant, you order your food at the counter, get up to get it when it's ready, and you prepare and refill your own drinks/eating utensils. Oh, and when you leave you throw your trash into one of the trashcans.

So what exactly am I tipping for?

And the options were:
15%
20%
25%
OTHER

What, like a Brewbacher's or Voodoo BBQ type of place.

Couple bucks, tops. That's like a half step above fast food.

Why did you make him out to be the problem and not the server in his example?

It wasn't 1 example, the poster he replied to specifically stated he didn't tip 99% of the time, which is why the guy replied stating those people are few and far between.

If you're getting bad service 99% of the time, that's probably your fault for going to the wrong places. No one else is getting bad service 99% of the time, let's be realistic.

Don’t we feel guilty about not tipping because we know the server is being underpaid?
No, why would I?

I can empathize if a server is being underpaid, but I am exactly 0% responsible for that, so I'm not sure why I'd feel guilty about it.

And no, going to that restaurant and having that underpaid server serve me also doesn't make me feel guilty. They're still choosing to do that job, no one has forced them into it, so again, zero reason for me to feel guilty.

There's like nothing to tip for.

Other than food quality being higher, it's the same as being in a McD's in terms of overall dining experience.

I went to get Wendy's for breakfast in the Atlanta airport yesterday and the damn card reader device asked how much of a tip I wanted to leave. This tipping shite is getting out of hand if we're expected to tip fast food workers nowadays.

Had lunch at Chauvan's today. I had shrimp tacos with a nice salad. Ate the shrimp tacos and didn't touch the salad. Left a ten dollar tip. I had to leave the table early with my grandson. Wife got a couple of doggy bags. Everything was put in carry outs except my salad that I was looking forward to eating for supper. Most of the time things like this roll off my back, this one detoured into my craw, and its still there.

Man, nobody boxes up salad unless you specifically ask them.

I just solved that problem. You're welcome

It's his fault if he had to leave early that he didn't tell someone at the table to ensure the salad was boxed. Servers aren't boxing a freaking salad, it's laughable that any of you would think that was ever a thing to be assumed.

You also stand much less a chance of being an innocent bystander in some ghetto fisticuffs.

If a couple dollars from everyone keeps a higher class of employee working there, it's worth it, IMO.

I’ve said it on here before, if the server / barista appears like they voted for Biden, which they all do as they typically dress like Antifa members, then I don’t tip. Otherwise, I’ll throw $1.00 in sporadically.

It doesn't matter if it's online takeout from a chain like Chili's, a sandwich from Subway, or a drive-thru coffee from Starbucks.

Sounds like a bigger issue is the amount you frequent chain restaurants

Went to the LSU baseball game and the queen behind the concession stand held on to my grub and watched which tip button I pushed before handing it over.

So she waited until you paid to give you the food? OH THE HORROR!!!
