....as far as differences in culture and overall experience?

I’d imagine less culture

I've worked in Walnut Creek a few times. It's a clean, nice little suburb. Not sure about the COL but I'm sure it's relatively high.

Walnuts and water.

90% white/Asian. You gonna be shocked.

Less blacks
More Asians.....a lot more. I’m guessing there are more Asians within a 5 mile radius of your house in Walnut Creek than in entire state of Louisiana
Less conservatives
More liberals
Better sushi
worse every other food
Less crime
Higher taxes

Nice weather? Earthquakes, wildfires, taxes, high cost of living, liberals, traffic...Oh wait, forget the traffic, you said Baton Rouge.

Hopefully you’re getting a substantial salary increase.

Walnut Creek sounds like a steady flow of nuts, yep, it’s California.

I always feel like west coast democrats are more libertarian than left wing extremists.

Well since its impossible to be worse than living in Baton Rouge minus LSU I would say your quality of life should improve.
Congrats!

Upper middle class suburbia, pretty white. Probably the opposite in every way to BR

I was born in Walnut Creek @ Kaiser

We used to go eat at a steakhouse in WC that was in an old train car. I think I read that it closed but they had a damn fine steak.

Major league baseball
NFL
Public transit
Napa Valley is a day trip
The city is very liberal, but the farther you get from it people are normal.
Cool nights year round.
