Apparently my joke was over the line as it was deleted. In all seriousness, congratulations! You're 43 now but when that kid is 18, you're going to be "younger" than others your age due that kid keeping you young. My mother-in-law was 40 when my wife was born and she says to this day that her being so old when she was born turned out to be a blessing.

Good luck and congrats!

Or you could not be a murdering bastard and give the kid up for adoption. There are families waiting for years and paying thousands of dollars into a corrupt system trying to adopt.

Gotta admit, though, that so far I’m taking fatherhood better than I did 17 years ago. I know what to expect. I’m not nearly as high-strung. I’m mainly worried about staying in shape and keeping the energy to keep up with him. I don’t want to be a lazy old dad too tired to do anything.

I’m actually looking forward to doing dad-son stuff with him. Yeah, it sucks because I was looking forward to doing whatever I wanted without kids in the house, but what would I be doing? Sitting on my arse? Meh. I’m thankful for what I got even if it was a oopsie-daisy

The thought of having a child later in life doesn’t bother me at all, i would probably actually prefer that than getting knocked up right out of high school or something like that

But the OPs situation sounds like the worst case scenario. Obviously it’ll end up being awesome and all that, but that feeling of almost being done and then having a slip up that will be another 18 years of full responsibility it rough

I'm scheduled for Dec 28th. Hit my deductible this year and the procedure won't cost me a dime.
