My favorite hobby these days is not spending money. Just wish I could get my wife on board.

I think this is the source of a ton of mid life crises for men. Ex-wife found a way to spend 100-125% of a six figure take home pay nearly every month, with nothing to show for it. Other women/social media light the fuse, and most women are more than too happy to go along with it. Name brand cat litter from Sam's? No, it needs to be this crap her friend found on Tik Tok that costs three times as much a month, etc.

Is almost $15k a year in dance expenses reasonable for a 9-10 year old? Everyone of us is screaming, "F no," but somehow we start at $79 a month for soccer and end up in this shite. Multiply this against eating out, ordering in, etc., and you wake up 40 with 25% of the retirement savings you should have, negligible college savings, living close to paycheck to paycheck, and stressed out that you don't have any room.

Men's ways of wasting money (probably with the exception of gambling) seem to be seasonal (buying fishing/hunting gear before the season opens, etc.) and not just evergreen, daily, weekly and monthly recurring expenses.

This makes you worry about $300 increases in house escrow payments next year, whether the price of gas starts with a 2 or a 3, etc.

Cutting back on the spending is the first step to regaining control of your life. You're just working to keep your head above water, and probably can't even plan a trip to Vegas for the draft (or some other shite) to look forward in a couple of months.

There might be something to it. Based off the conversation on this board, with a friend and with my doctor, we agreed to have me do a blood test to measure my testosterone level. Sure enough my testosterone is in the toilet right at 250.

Given I might have screwed up the test as I did it at 5:30 p.m. yesterday and I saw later where testosterone tests are best performed between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. So I'm going to retest at some point soon in the morning to confirm.

While I hate the idea of another medication, if the retest confirms the low t, my doctor is going to prescribe a medication to help.

TRT therapy can change your entire outlook on life brother. You will feel like a different person. I would seriously consider it.

Try something new that easy and quick to play. Fishing, hunting, and golf takes hours to do and prepare for. Taking up something like Tennis, crossfit, kickball, or softball is something you can do in an hour here or there and you get to be around a group of new people. New people have an ability to bring new life and get you out of a rut/routine thats making you feel stagnant.

Edit: also start waking up early. Seems stupid but it helps kick start the day and helps make you go to bed at a reasonable time.

I'm kinda there now. I'm not sure when I missed the last hunting season completely, but I have no desire to hunt this year.

I also have a bass boat and use to spend every free moment I had fishing. I haven't been in a couple months which is like 20 years for me. I have done this in the past then regain interest. I think it is just part of life.

Not sure if what the doctor is putting me on is TRT therapy. He said he would prescribe Clomid. He said it’s used to increase sperm count but also used to increase testosterone.

Anyone here have experience with Clomid and how well it works?

Buddy of mine used it and said it had some positive impact. He thought it was the placebo effect.

He also had chest tenderness and was scared of gynecomastia, which is a known side effect of taking it. Once hot flashes started, he quit taking it.

He's on TRT now and feels great but started balding. YMMV.
