downvoted because I disagree with you in the what you said about some people who smoke are not trashy. I believe that all smokers are trashy. You can polish a turd, but at the end of the day you're still holding shite.

Meh, this says more about the people you hang around with than it does about people who may smoke.

I’m smoking right now. When I get to work I’m going to take a ten minute break every hour to smoke another one. Gonna smoke one right before lunch so you can smell it while you eat too.

My mother smoked when we we kids... Hated that shite...

We would sit in the den watching TV and you could see the smoke hovering in the screen... Too bad parents didn't know about second hand smoke back then...

Probably why I never smoked.. Thanks mom....

How'd you quit?

First, I had to want to quit. I had to be ready.

I quit with Chantix. If you take it as directed, you will not smoke after a week or two. It blocks nicotine from getting to your brain, and makes a cigarette taste awful.

I smoked a pack-a-day for 30 years. Haven't smoked one since Dec. 24, 2016.

That's kind of what I'm saying. We get one of these threads every so often, and folks just can't resist flinging their shite on others. When their own shite starts getting thrown back at them, it's generally down vote city, and then silence.

I just figured 4 pages of people being assholes to other people, who really don't inconvenience them any more than anyone else, was enough. We're all jacked up in some way. My dad has smoked nearly all his life, and is now paying for it with his life. If any of the bitches in this thread had the stones to talk to him, or about him, the way they do in this thread, they had better be able to kick my arse, because I would be kicking theirs.

I don't feel sorry for him, and nobody else should either. He has killed himself, after being told he was killing himself for decades. But he is just like thousands of others out there who are the salt of the earth, have never hurt a soul, or deprived their loved ones of a thing due to their habit. They deserve the same respect as any other human being, and if you don't think so because you have a hard-on for smoking, you can frick off.

I was a heavy smoker at the end of high school and beginning of college.

I ended up quitting around the age of 20 for various reasons.

But I understand the smoke in weather mentality. Its a chemical addiction that has urges you can't ignore. I had those rain shields on my car windows so I could crack my window a few inches in the rain and smoke.

Having been clean for 9 years, the smell from smoke and smokers actually makes me nauseous when I'm sober. I hate that shite.

While being interviewed by Larry King, Don Imus stated, without hesitation, that of the three addictions he overcame (cigarettes, alcohol, and heroin), cigarettes were by far the hardest to quit.

I started at 11 to be cool (I thought), and quit cold turkey at 25, and it was the most difficult thing I have ever done.

Nicotine maybe the most addictive drug on earth. Every time you take a drag you soon start going into withdrawal. To understand how addictive it is, and the worldwide mortality rate it causes, read Allen Carr's "Easy Way to Stop Smoking".

I believe that, except for some short term intermittent relapses, have been quit for 20 years. Still would love one with a cold beer or hot coffee.

That's amazing to me. I smoked in college but after I quit I was so disgusted by it I can't even imagine how I ever smoked. It's repulsive. When you're a smoker you don't realize how close to a turd you smell like all day. I also never realized how offensive it was to nonsmokers until I became one.

“In 1950, Einstein is noted as saying, "I believe that pipe smoking contributes to a somewhat calm and objective judgment in all human affairs," Although he favored pipes, Einstein was not one to turn down a cigar or even a cigarette.”

Unfortunately, the same article included this:

“After Einstein divorced his first wife, Mileva Maric, in 1919, he married his cousin, Elsa Loewenthal (nee Einstein). How closely were they related? Quite close. Elsa was actually related to Albert on both sides of his family.”

Don’t know what to make of this, but thought it was interesting.

It is absolutely retarded. I will smoke when I am hammered out at the bars but that is maybe 2 days a month and I feel like death the next day, being a daily smoker is about the grossest thing ever.

But even having ONE cigarette while out ....the next day I felt like crap. It's like my body was like "what the frick are you thinking, we will remind you what a bad idea that is"

It is ssssooo bad for you. I can get hammered and feel ok the next morning but if I get hammered and have smokes I feel like death the entire next day.
