I had an idea some time ago to come up with a coffee table book memorializing those memorials. Wife said it was too morbid. I still think it’s solid. Oh well.

It wouldn’t be a new law. It’s already a law.

Just like you can’t put campaign signs on the state right of way. Just not enforced

What is Louisiana's policy on roadside memorials? Roadside memorials are encroachments on DOTD right of way and are illegal. However, DOTD does not regularly remove such memorials unless complaints are received, an unreasonable safety hazard is created, and/or they interfere with routine roadside maintenance functions.

In regards to naming a bridge or roadway in memory of someone - this must be accomplished through an act of the state legislature. People should contact their elected official.

Actually not a bad idea... it isn't morbid, it's sobering- and there's nothing wrong with that.

It should be more illegal for people who put crap like stuffed animals and plastic ducks across their dashboards and obstructing their view.
If people putting up a cross helps to grieve their loved ones, who cares.
