I used to work in a place where a supervisor spoke kind of harshly to a female subordinate a few times. Nothing sexual, but she was not his favorite employee. Her husband showed up one day and spent about 15 minutes in the office with the supervisor. When he left, the supervisor looked like he had seen a ghost. The employee quit a a week or two later but while she was still there he didnt say one word to her.

Well depending on the situation, it may be more than just a job and it may be your career.
Think about the Besh enployees. I feel it's a reasonable fear that resisting someone like him could get you blackballed in the nola hospitality industry. So for someone in that position, their life as they know it may be on the line.
