I would go back to our Founders' original intent and give states near autonomy. While I absolutely despise people like Gavin Newsome, I would actually give him more power to run his state as he saw fit so long as California law didn't violate the U.S. Constitution.

There would be court-ordered public floggings (or stock/pillory) in urban centers as immediate crime deterrents to the hordes of fatherless youth.
Simplify tax code, rein in government, massive layoffs in government. Huge tax credits for newlyweds. No able bodies sitting around not working if they get benefits.
One expensive thing I'd do is annexation of Mexico into the United States. I think things would be better that way for many reasons.
Invent a cheap, earth-friendly, and all-around superior replacement for single use plastics.
That's all I got at the moment.

It has to start with cleaning out Washington DC and starting over. Without that, nothing can change. But if it could:
Heavily fine any media entity that claims to be news for political opinions, misinformation, and receiving outside funds. Maybe even start a federal agency to monitor them.
Vote in person with valid ID
Flat tax at reasonable rate
Any able body on taxpayer funded assistance must perform 40 hours a week community service. If not, you’re cut off.
Criminals pay for their crimes. Especially violent criminals. Repeat offenders shouldn’t be a thing.
Fund the police and pay teachers. Armed, trained police at every school. Allow God back in school and public events.
Stop pushing diversity and get rid of minority programs/benefits. Allow things to happen organically. The most deserving candidate gets the job, scholarship, etc.
Stop pushing homosexuality, LBGTQ, etc. on society.
Shut down the flood of illegal immigrants. Capture and deport those that are here.

I would support the idea of news anchors and media outlets being legally at fault for putting out anything that is deemed to be not true.
I would make it easier to legally prove slander and libel.

See my comment above yours. Can’t make it illegal if nobody is holding them accountable. It’s have to be at the federal level. In this hypothetical, I’m in charge so the crooks are gone from the fed agencies.

I think that even in hypothetical situations, we are all immediately corrupted by power, as you have clearly demonstrated with your own "federal misinformation board."
The government has no place in the oversight or influence on the media, period.

Close and seal all the borders to all immigrants until a reasonable solution is found.

Somehow hold congress accountable and reduce their salaries and kick out all the lobbyist. Every Congress member will have to be subject to an audit annually.
Term limits.
Just for starters.
