At least you've confirmed that you've only been to the big cities.

You've proportionally experienced about as much of Texas as a white girl who went to NOLA for Mardi Gras in undergrad claims she's been to LA...

In some aspects sure but so is Louisiana. Louisiana has their on type of cookie cutter homes and chain restaurants and stores.

I agree, there are some parts of Louisiana that are like that. But our biggest city is about as far away from cookie cutter as you can get.

Have lived in TX, LA, FL. Also traveled for work all over this land & will again.
Have spent time in multiple cities in towns across CO, CA, GA, MS, AL, OH, & throughout the NE. Even been to Canada a few times for work/play.

No one is claiming LA isn't great in its own right. The debate is that compared to many other locales, LA is a shithole. If you disagree, then that's as difficult as trying to reason with a SJW.

I don't really have a reason to go to some small town in Texas. I am going to Texas "wine country" this Summer, so maybe I'll change my tune then.

Of course I've been to Newark and everywhere else in New Jersey.

I'll take Newark over Houston any day. Newark has great roads and fantastic public transportation. The people there are not annoying like North Jersey. Newark is like an hour from: the Atlantic Ocean, Philly, and Manhattan.

Yeah Houston is so much better :yak:

You just might. May I suggest taking the back roads, listen to local radio, & stop at every mom & pop shop that catches your eye.

If a sign says "Best BBQ in Texas" out front, accept the challenge.

Ah yes. Cause every state would love to have the economy, crime, overall poor public education, corrupt government, horrible roads and infrastructure, and higher percentage of poor and obese people that LA has.

Currently the Acadiana area. Grew up in both BR & Lafayette
Spent my summers at our camp in Grand Isle. Knew from the age of 5 I was destined for LSU.
Parents are divorced so I also spent my time in North Texas & traveled around a lot for family, sports, & general vacation stuff growing up.

So you actually wonder if there is an area in the entire state that has low crime and decent schools?

I'll help you out. Yes, they exist.

South Lake Charles. Good public schools and nice shopping. Plus it's close enough to Houston.

You don't get it. I really don't care about cleaner appearance of some parts of Texas. I've been everywhere that you claim to have spent significant amounts of time, and can give you spefics on why I wouldn't want to live there.

I can do my job from anywhere in America. My wife's entire family is from Atlanta and is still there. We both love Baton Rouge, we have an amazing life here. I just don't see how I'm in a "shithole", and how should stop thinking Louisiana is a beautiful place and enjoying my life here.

Definitely cheaper to live east of 75. Going north is even expensive toward Celina & Gunter.

No one says that Louisiana isn't a beautiful place nor SHOULD you/anyone stop enjoying your life here.

But take a look around: it's littered, it's generally dirty, the roads & traffic are epically atrocious, the local/state governments are depressing (to say the least), the 2 main industries of oil & tourism are on life support, termites are apparently plaguing the 225 area (sorry to those of you dealing with that), the list goes on.

Your "specifics" on why you wouldn't want to live in the cleaner parts of Texas or any part of Texas for that matter will never be worse than 95% of the areas you cite as better in Louisiana.

Yes, we have LSU football & thank Heaven for that. But really & truly-what else does Louisiana have going for it that can genuinely convince people to want to move or stay here?

I travel to Texas nearly monthly for work. I know it as well as you do, as I travel the ENTIRE state. You're bragging about the bbq, but there's a chain in Ga where I can get equal or better from a drive thru. Memphis Bbq is inarguably better than Tx. You're just defending your homestate whereas I'm unbiased on the subject. Yes I've been to the places in Austin where u have to wait in line for the Bbq.

I've lived in Houston and Fort Worth.

It's a great state with lots of money, I get it. I just prefer the soulful fullfulling environment in La. People in Texas generally their favorite thing in life is the fact they're from Texas. I realize the culture you're raised in; but you're in a Lousiana thread incessantly talking about Texas and bashing La. Save that for a Texas thread.

You talk about La being a shithole, but I remind you, I've traveled all of Texas and can go toe to toe with you on dirty unappealing areas of both states.

I honestly thought Louisiana sucked until I moved to New Orleans.
