I'm confused, was she a man when on Big Brother?
I thought the sex change was a recent thing and she was a he on TV.

No, she's announced to be on the season thats starting next week. When they announced and interviewed her they said nothing about her being a guy, then TMZ ran a story on it this afternoon.

Post-op, they have to use a stent or the "wound" tries to heal.
