If you quickly walk 6-8 miles a day would you consider that a worthy work-out?

My current job requires at least that... along with other physical stuff including lifting, etc. Yet I still come out of it feeling both exhausted and like I haven't gotten anywhere physically....
When it comes to exercise and working out, I just always feel more tired the more I do instead of eventually having extra energy even if I physically look better.
I don't mind hard work, I would just like to see it pay off in some extra ability and energy.. may be my diet... not really sure...

If you're tired all the time it may be your diet. If you don't enjoy your job also that may have a detrimental effect on your level of energy.

I don't hate my job... I like it for the most part. But I am usually really tired all the time, even on my days off. I'm starting to think it may be more about the lack of good sleep... I know I snore a good bit... and wake up tired even after a long night of sleep...
I didn't think that would effect my energy and muscle gain as much as it seems to be doing, but I'm starting to think that it's part of the issue.

Are you doing it all at once, or spread out over the day? If the former, it's a decent workout, especially if it also involves some lifting, as you say.. If the latter, you're clearly way better off than sitting in a chair all day, but it's still not much intensity. Do you break a sweat, or get your heart rate up?
I'd call what you're doing a decent base to start with, but you need to find the time and motivation to do something to raise the intensity level. The good news is it shouldn't take too much with what you're already doing at work. If you can get in a hard 30-45 minute session two or three times a week on top of that, you can be in really great shape.

Time to get a CPAP old man.
I personally don't have one and never will but the folks that use them say they help.

You'll burn decent calories with that level of activity, but it won't matter if your eating habits offset the calories burned. As you use more energy, your eating more to compensate for that, likely without even realizing it. Start paying attention to what you eat. If you clean up what you eat, you can get the nutrition you need for energy while taking in less calories. Doesn't have to be real scientific, just slowly cut back on the things you probably already know aren't good for you. It really is as simple as calories in vs. calories out for weight loss. And yes, sleep is very important for energy levels and strength.

Depends on the day... most days I walk quickly for 3 hours straight... then stop and start more walking for another 5 hours with lifting, bending, and shifting 50+ pounds regularly...

I sweat and have a feeling of working out (heart rate wise) for almost the whole day.
When I get home I'm sore, physically tired, etc... I don't mind that part..and take it as being good for me...
It's more the being sleepy and lacking energy continuously that is the issue.

Have you been tested for hypothyroidism

I've had some blood test done and been told my thyroid is normal...
But I've always felt that I have some form of metabolism issue.

Maybe your doc could try a T3 like Synthroid for a couple of months and see if you feel better. It won't hurt you medically. Just an idea.

Maybe.. every time I go to the doc about this stuff they tend to want to put me on anti-depressants... but those always make me feel really weird and not like myself at all. And they don't ever seem to solve any issues... just make me not worry about them anymore.
I'd like to have my testosterone levels checked...

What type of job do you have? I only ask bc you're up at 3 am right now on a wed night talking about lack of energy when sleep could be doing you some good. Is this a normal thing for you? Are you working nights?

My hours change regularly... and really aren't normal at all.. so that doesn't help.
Some nights I get off at midnight, some days I get up at 4:30 in the morning. But I do always try to get at least 7 hours of sleep in. And tend to be able to schedule my self so I'll at least be sleepy and ready to go to bed when needed.
I'm off the next two days... so not really worried about it tonight.

I feel ya. I'm a shift guy myself and 7 hours are hard to come by sometimes. I drag arse quite often and need sleep catch up days, but I can certainly tell when I'm well rested vs. when I'm not. Have you tried taking a multivitamin? The bottom line is if your getting enough rest, eating decent, and getting exercise and you still feel lethargic all the time, it's time to get checked. Screw the antidepressants. Test levels would be my next stop if you truly are doing the other things listed.

Technically (time wise) I should be getting enough rest. And should be getting enough exercise to at least feel pretty good.. Eating wise.. I don't eat that bad... but I don't eat great either I suppose...
I don't eat fast food, but I'm not cooking super healthy meals every night either... if ya know what I mean.

Curious, but what do you do that requires walking 6-8 miles a day?
I used to have a job in Katy that required being on the phone non stop all day long inside a cubicle. I was so exhausted that I survived on coffee and trying to to fall asleep in traffic on the drive back to midtown.

Obviously sleep and diet have a lot to do with your stamina but if you hate your job your energy will suck no matter what
