What would you do with it?
If I had a million dollars
Well I'd buy you a house
And if I had a million dollars
I'd buy you furniture for your house (maybe a nice chesterfield or an ottoman)
And if I had a million dollars
I'd buy you a k-car (a nice reliant automobile)

Really not that much money. I'd buy land here and build a house.

No way
Too much free time if I’m not working. Free time means I’m spending money to entertain myself.
Health insurance is going to run half that 30k since you have to buy an individual plan

I will pay you for your business plan that will easily generate 20k/month.

Use it as a down payment on a $1.6 million dollar house

Townhouse, 3 or 4 year old Lexus suv, a couple of trips, bank the rest.

Less than that after he buys a house
He said modest house so I went real conservative and figured he bought a double wide and a place to park it.

Question is really $1.0 mil,
Look for a job because investment income will not be enough.

Mutual fund. Withdraw 4% each year. Chill.

You can buy a house in many areas of the country for 200k. I'd have a another 100k for clothes, furniture, purchasing a vehicle etc.

You said "if I had an EXTRA"
Premise is you have nothing.

I'd give up everything I have - retirement accounts, house, cars and all possessions for 1 million right now
Posted on 2/2/20 at 1:41 pm to fallguy_1978
I dunno man. I'm hoping to have $5-6 million liquid when I retire at 65. Only $1 million at 36 would not do much for me if I retired today.
Posted on 2/2/20 at 1:42 pm to colorchangintiger
I wouldn't retire right now but my net worth at 42 is less than a million. I'd come out ahead on that deal and I'd be able to retire earlier than I currently expect to.

I think if I start at zero and get a million, I would be losing money, so no.
