Cvitanovich is ethnically Croatian, not Serbian. They came from the island of Hvar in the Adriatic Sea, they had been there hundreds of years before immigrating here. The odds of them having Venetian blood is exponentially greater than having any Serbian lineage.

The lawyer in this case is also somehow related (I'm guessing father/son) to Lewis Unglesby, Edwin Edwards lawyer for so many years.

That was my guess since he's from Metairie and somehow the sentence didn't exactly fit the seriousness of the crime.
