I worked with a guy who was a Filipino guy who taught self defense to to high level students (police, ex military, martial arts, etc) and while it wouldn’t teach you how to go on the offensive, that was by far the most effective fighting style I saw.

He always said when his opponent throws a punch is his favorite. Dude tries to punch from distance, leaving the arm out in space. He’d just grab it, pull it towards his center of gravity, and either break the fingers if possible or reverse to destroy the elbow joint

I joked around with him before in a couple of May rooms and it was pretty amazing. The moment a limb left my body, he took it, took control of it, and rendered me useless.

It is when we are on the mat. You leave an arm out there dangling and it is going to be tap or snap. However, it's hard to capture limbs in stand-up positions from somebody that actually knows how to throw a punch or kick. You aren't just grabbing a punch like the other poster said about his Filipino buddy unless that shite is like in slow motion.
