If you wanted to carry responsibly, you’d just call them & ask

I was speaking just about a CHP.
If you don't have a permit and are somehow "caught" carrying on a sidewalk outside a school, you're toast. If you have a CHP, your good (at least, in Louisiana).
No I believe it was for anything. If not and you lived within 1000' of a school you would not be allowed to go from your car to house legally if you were parked in the street.
Edit; went look it up seems like private property or residence or CHL is ok within 1000'
Still not sure they could tell you that you can't go from your car to your residence. Also thought they changed it but just didn't remove the language from the old law of 1000'
