Nope. I save it for when Biden’s layoffs inevitably hit me at some point.

I've never understood this. Why does it not just get rolled into the salary? I always feel like I'm missing something when I hear about mandatory bonuses
Usually they have to be employed to earn the bonus, so it's a way to make sure your people stay at the company longer.

I pay people what they are worth not what they think they are worth.
I have one employee that makes 150% of the national average for her degree and position - because she is worth all of it.
Others make as little as I can pay them until they leave. Because they are not adding value.
Me making more money only trickles down to the people who ACTUALLY helped me do it.

No, but I tip well all the time.
Well unless I get lousy service, then you get what you earned, nothing as it should be

It's also because bonuses can remain descretionary. It's much easier to lower or withholds bonus in a bad year than to "cut" salary.
People do get used to and somewhat expect them though....

Do you reward your housekeeper, yardboy, masseuse with a little something extra since they helped you operate at peak performance and not be brought down by certain tasks.

That is what I am asking. Do you not think your housekeeper getting the baseboards or yardboy getting you a 'nice yard' comment from the neighbors play into the confidence to perform better at work?
My car guy did a killer detail on the S-Class that got me a 'car looking good' comment from a co-worker. No doubt plays into performance or possibly a raise later.

My guess is that it could be an industry that has pretty considerable turnover. They put the bonus at the end of the year to entice people to stay the entire year. The deal also probably has a clause in it that requires repayment of that bonus if you leave within 6 months of receiving the bonus.
That makes sense. I appreciate you

That goes for all three of you; you don’t all need separate thank you posts

I got a retail management job right out of college and the assistant manager informed me that the previous manager had been passing 20% of his bonuses down to him. I let him know how lucky he was to have worked with that guy.

When you get a performance based bonus at work do you pay it forward to your personal service people?
For instance, you get a 20% performance. Do you reward your housekeeper, yardboy, masseuse with a little something extra since they helped you operate at peak performance and not be brought down by certain tasks.
How happy are the endings?
