He was public enemy number one in this country when he pissed on the Alamo back in the early 80’s. Pretty amazing to see the adoration now.
He sold out every show on that and subsequent tours. The Alamo Pissing Incident didn't slow him down. Hell, four days later he sold out a show in El Paso.

It reminds me a little of Snoop Dogg. They have both become more beloved as time passes.

good parallel , except I really think Ozzy was a genuine, more or less down to earth, what you see is what you get person, warts and all, whereas I think Snoop is an excellent self marketer and a bit of a chameleon

The TV show did a lot for his image

at the time of that show he had some wacko doctor on the payroll that would keep him drugged up and in a dazed and confused state(maybe Ozzy didn't object

I think the reality show was probably a double edged sword for Ozzy. In the 1982 Night Flight interview where he had short hair he talked about the difficulties of balancing being John Osborne in his day-to-day life and having to be "Ozzy" any time he was in public. He talked about having to switch it on and off for the fans who noticed him out and about. He wasnt complaining, more just explaining.
When the show came out, I believe they actually did have a film crew on the premises practically 24/7. That made him have to "be" Ozzy all the time. At a certain point it seems Ozzy just took over John, and he stopped even trying to turn it off.

Very impressive. Poor Sharon looks pretty rough and very upset. That last facelift didn't do her any favors especially the lips.

I will admit It I was never a fan. I enjoyed the TV show some though.
The only thing I remember about Black Sabbath was me getting in a fist fight at the Varsity the night my grandfather passed away. I had picked up my Dad at the airport and we stopped at the Varsity to eat and a Black Sabbath concert had just finished up and the place was full of Black Sabbath fans. I walked past a table full of them and heard someone say "frick you and your pink shirt" and I thought to myself "seems about right...what kind of a-hole wears a pink shirt..." when I realized I was the a-hole...I had on a pink Izod LOL. My girlfriend had given it to me (it was stylish in the early 1980s) and I had put it on to go to the airport and didn't really think about it until old boy brought it up. I spun around and told him to get fricked and it was on...he leapt up and I landed a Sunday punch that nearly dropped him but to my dismay and concern did not....we exchanged blows about twice each until his friends grabbed him and the cops grabbed me and it was over....one of the few times I ever had a positive encounter with the cops because that first blow was usually enough to end most people's desire to pursue their initial intent but experience had proven when it rarely did not I was in trouble LOL....neither of us was arrested, it was Atlanta in the 80s and we were the least dangerous thing going on in the Varsity at the time let alone the rest of the city....my Dad told me "damn son, I can't take you anywhere..."

you're not wrong, but I think his reality show did a lot to make him relatable and dispel that image. And if you see recent pictures of him with his grandkid, you realize, for all of his outlandishness, he was no different than anyone else. Just an old mortal man.
I think this. From the Osbornes about 20 years ago and throughout to the present Ozzy was in the mainstream a lot in a pretty normal and funny way with a measure of old former rocker as well. The paranormal and other shows he was in in recent years were another thing.

Not really...but I respect what he has done for the industry

I agree 100%. Sharon also admitted to taking Ozempic which really fk'd her up mentally and physically. She was addicted to losing weight since the pounds came off very easily. At one time Sharon weighed less than 100 lbs. Ironically, it was OZZY who grew concerned and told her she has to stop. Sharon faced reality and admitted that she went to far.
obviously pre-Ozempic (2016'ish)
rough looking transformation
