I think you're right and it's scary. 5 years ago you could beat back this stuff (I think) with a persuasive left-leaning (American version) liberal speech about tolerance and individual rights and the like. The wife in Field of Dreams always pops into my head. Even left-leaning types would likely go "yeah I mean I think MLK had it right, progress is good, tolerance is good, science is good, etc."
Now, you can go to any college campus and find hundreds if not thousands of students who will likely argue with you about MLK's vision, will claim individual rights are code words meaning white supremacy, etc.

Yes. The fact that they now have a solid foothold in GOVERNMENT means they've moved well beyond the point of just being a nuisance. That should be worrisome to those who genuinely care about this country.

I think something the "this is overblown" people seize upon is the comparison between the gay rights movement and the modern transgender movement. A lot of that probably comes from folks who were in the camp that the gay movement was going to destroy society, etc. and now they feel guilty about it and want to pretend that the same puritanical attitudes exist with regard to those opposing the transgender stuff.

It was. However Kind thought marxism was more faulty than capitalism and he borrowed what he felt worked, and shelved the rest.
I believe King had a good motive. I respect the work that he did.

To be clear, if this is the argument it's a shitty one. I don't blame you for not being worked up about it, but it's not exactly a reason why some Americans should work 1/3 or 1/2 of the year for a government that generally opposes their existence.
