CNN published a hard news piece like 2 weeks ago that said there is no universally-accepted method for determining biological sex at birth. Not gender, sex. Not some crackpot opinion piece, a regular old news story.
Its bizarro world, and people who think we're talking about a tiny swath of the country are missing the point. It doesn't matter how many people hold these views (and it's more than a tiny number) when corporations, media and our entire educational system adopts and promulgates them.

In an earlier time we would not have needed to explain the importance of truth, honesty, facts, ethics, fair-play etc. In this era of Progressive Ideological Possession, when half the country is in full MORAL PANIC and we are treated to adults who call themselves "liberal" demanding censorship and State coercion, we really can't take anything for granted. We really DO have to explain to them, as if they are little children, why they actually might not want to completely abandon critical thinking and The Rule of Law in favor of whatever passion they feel on a given day.

I think a lot of people live in communities where most of this stuff isn't yet taking root and they can just (with some basis) say "turn off CNN and social media and talk to your neighbors, and you'll see things aren't that bad."
A lot of truth in that, especially when it comes to regular politics. I would agree that you should do it in order to recalibrate and stop worrying about things you don't control (like the outcome of an election).
But the woke/whatever movement is bigger, more powerful, and it has a couple of decades of momentum behind it and increasingly, millions of religious-like adherents. It's a real thing, with genuinely powerful allies and a real threat to everyone in this country.
