BS. My kid plays competitive soccer, which means we are regularly sharing facilities with the Braxtons and Jaxtons. I can confirm BB parents are total douchebags.

Thats how more athletic people feel about soccer parents.

By baseball, do you mean the sport that is mostly standing around? Usually no more than 10 seconds of running at a time?

Oh yeah, that sport.

Most is spent in the dugout seeing who can spit seeds the farthest, actually.

Side note.

I watched Schmidt pitch a couple weeks ago.

Coming from someone who played with the Nola brothers. That kid is a freak.

If you don’t see the problem you are most likely part of said problem when it comes to how ridiculous kids sports have become over the last 20+ years Or you don’t have kids who play / have played sports
This site for the most part is clueless on everything

95% of “travel ball” doesn’t travel. It’s kids playing 2-3 games on a Saturday and Sunday instead of one game on a weds and one game on a Saturday

It’s not really anymore baseball or “travel” than rec ball. You simply don’t have to be forced to play with kids that are using the sport as a babysitter

Do you understand how stupid and volatile this is?
I am coaching 7u rec now. It’s completely worthless and pointless. Absolute disgrace how unorganized the league is and just how awful some of these kids parents are. If your kid is going to come out in jeans and never ever ever swing the bat or listen it’s hurting everyone

As someone coaching rec baseball right now I can’t imagine them being more worthless than current rec parents

You’re not coaching shite

You’re babysitting

I promise you the moms sitting in the stands know more about baseball than you do

The whole travel baseball thing is so lol.

Got mine a free ride for 4 years.

Unfortunately it has taken him 5yrs of schooling and he finally graduates 5/3 of this year with a degree in Civil Engineering.

6/8 he starts his big boy job and we officially cut him from our payroll.

Im not going to know what to do with the extra influx of money but I'll figure it out.

Has Gaston posted in this thread yet?

I just noticed it and figured he would be front and center

In case you didn’t know, his son visited 15 D1 colleges to try and walk on as a football kick or a soccer player.

Even Nick Saban sent him a generic letter saying hey come visit our campus.

Of course. I have an Indian kid (dot) that has yet to swing the bat in practice. Refuses to do it

Then I would love for them to volunteer to help coach. Zero help or assistance from parents

Rec ball is completely dead. If this is it at 7u I can’t imagine how awful it is later

Oh jeez, you’re in for a fricking roller coaster. Good luck

I did the whole thing for 10 years. There were good times and not so good times. No regrets whatsoever as long as you hook up with the right kids and the right people and families , it can be a blast for your kid, and all the siblings

We’ve been everywhere from Cooperstown to the Dominican Republic, to Cuba and Puerto Rico and all places in between and not one single regret.

I think this is the disconnect

People with either no kids or older kids trying to talk about the current state of kids sports.

A lot has changed in just 10 years. Rec ball is worlds different from when I was helping out with my nephew a few years ago to seeing it now

Luckily my son’s baseball career didn’t make it to an actual game.

That’s definitely an understatement

My son is basically 5-6 years disconnected from the travel/showcase circuit, his high school career ended in 2022 and he turned down offers from D3’s and NAIA’s, CC and JUCO’s,

Saw the writing on the wall with a 28 ACT and good vision, he’s already about to finish his 2nd year at LSU, in a Frat, having the time of his life.
