We have implemented the definition of insanity for almost a year now across much of the country.

The regulations work when everyone is 100% willing to follow them (i.e. Australia). If everyone isn't 100% willing to follow them, then they just unnecessarily cripple the economy while not curbing coronavirus
Works great until you get a single case once it’s been reopened and then nobody has immunity and shite hits the fan.

You and Tulane keep going. You both have such a good argument here.
Argue? Sharing what I actually observe with my eyes isn’t an argument, especially when considering that the alternative opinion mostly seems to be from what others are hearing on the news secondhand. I can’t help that it doesn’t fit the narrative of what ppl want to believe

So describe your movements throughout the state lately. I assume you're wearing your mask during all these public interactions. You must be the only weirdo doing so.

Yes, you're right its not an argument, rather it is purely empirical. Same as anyone else's observation on the matter. How does this invalidate what OP was saying?

Friend,
Seattle has been quite strict (and depressing), and you've seen very steady and relatively low numbers there.
I am grateful you had a safe and joyous wedding celebration there, sharing it with people who took the virus seriously. The fact that you traveled there without needing a quarantine or negative covid test is evidence that there is no real lockdown, as I said. Compare lockdown measures in China, New Zealand, and Taiwan, and see what would have been required of you to go to that wedding.
One problem with lockdowns is if a significant portion of the population is not adhering to strict guidelines all the time, there will likely be spread. Perhaps Californians kept up their lockdown-like behaviors a little longer than other places. But probably not. In my trips to San Fran and its environs, I saw significant numbers of people ignoring mask mandates, ignoring social distancing. It was particularly striking in North Beach, where it felt like 2019 again. I said to Mother as we sat a distance away on a public bench, "I wish these people would be more careful."
I found the behaviors of the average Californian to be little different from those in Louisiana. Mask use in grocery stores was a little higher than Louisiana, but the gatherings I saw were far larger than what I saw in Louisiana. I left my second trip to CA wondering how it was possible that California had not yet had their spike.
Again, I do not think lockdowns will work in America. Would they have worked early on if people truly locked down and we shut down international travel? I think so. But the cat is out the bag, and now I do not see how they will work, especially as mask and distancing fatigue set in long ago.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

How would I know?! I’ve been locked inside for months! Just turn on the news, it’s not exaggerative and oh so accurate.
Newsome showed up at my house and physically dragged me back inside himself when I tried to check the mail!!!

As have I. From the moment I boarded the plane to SAN to the time I boarded to SEA I had a mask on in public. I didn't see a single person who didn't. This was over a week. This was just California. You're absolutely full of shite.

I just don't get it. If the regulations are working why is Cali opening hospitals in tents?
It is possible that cum hoc ergo propter hoc is at work. The amount of unaccounted-for variables in the hypothesis is fairly large in number.

You know what would really show everyone?! Protesting by never ever ever coming back. That’ll show them! And I really think you should.

Despite your sarcasm, I actually do believe you haven't really seen enough to pretend to be an expert on even your own locale. Unless you're an activist or journalist.

None of this happened. Mother won't let you outside of a 250 mile radius of her house. You're barely qualified to comment on the Covid guidelines of Jackson Mississippi....friend.

You still have yet to say where in California you live to be a first hand observer of this non-mask wearing phenomenon.

Believe what you want, but I have multiple friends on here that are connected to me on socials and can absolutely confirm otherwise.
People have the story they want to tell themselves and that’s that. So just carry on believing what you want and exist in blissful ignorance. You’re not here and it doesn’t affect you so who cares?

Friend,
I know nothing about Jackson, MS. I have not been to Jackson in more than a decade, and that only as we drove through. As for California, I can only offer you these pictures and observations from our recent travels there:
TulaneLSU's Top 10 signs of San Francisco
TulaneLSU's Top 10 signs of Carmel
TulaneLSU's Top 10 observations and tips for playing a round at Pebble Beach
TulaneLSU's Top 10 bridges of central California
TulaneLSU's Top 10 signs of Merced
Yours,
TulaneLSU

You can claim to be the veritable man on the street who is plugged into these nuances of an entire state or even just his entire city, but I'm playing the odds and saying you're a regular dude who does some things around town and doesn't pay attention to these types of things. This is the OT, though, so I'm sure you and all your bros have blogs and vlogs about the mask and ordinance compliance all over the state.

Impressive photo gallery. What is more impressive is that all the people in your photos are either social distancing or wearing masks as appropriate. Which kind of ruins the argument put forth by your friend who insists he has the pulse of California when it comes to following Covid guidelines. Grateful Reb doesn't seem to be very....grateful.
