That's dumb Chris. Jones already made that joke about your wife. You're trying too hard.

Can you imagine the impact on the new orleans economy alone if they legalized prostitution and marijuana?
Yes, it would make a big difference. Tourism is already a huge part of our state economy....that would increase.

Prostitutes don't look like Playboy chicks or models. They're mostly stinky, drug addicted, tatted up, doggy skanks who wouldn't get picked up in a bar full of shore-leave sailors
You ever been to Europe?

You do understand the difference between girls working at the bunny ranch and backpage hookers is night and day right? Normal females just looking for money don't get into selling pussy for money, especially on the streets or through the Internet. They all have a fricked up story or some sort of vice

That really did great things for Atlantic City... It has helped turn that place into complete garbage.. Did they once try to make Atlantic City the Vegas of the East? I guess, unlike Vegas, it didn't attract millions of visitors annually.

So people rather weed, alcohol and tobacco over pussy?

No, but there'd be a huge stigma attached to it, where there's not over weed and booze. There would still be a significant black market for it to keep the anonymity of both the hookers and johns. I'm for legalizing it-- I think it's silly not to. But I don't think the tax revenue from it would be all that significant at all, really. It certainly wouldnt have the same impact as weed.

The direct gains aren't what they are reported, but indirect gains can be. There is an economy associated with it that can generate a respectable amount of money, not to mention increased tourism. Nevada will never be able to report significant tax gains because Clark and Washoe counties both do not allow legal prostitution.

Can anyone here articulate why prostitution is illegal in the first place?

Jesus and stuff.
But really it has a pretty interesting history. Here is the wiki
quote:
In 1908, The Bureau of Investigation (BOI) was founded by the government to investigate "white slavery" by interviewing brothel employees to find out if they had been kidnapped. Out of 1106 prostitutes interviewed in one city, six said they were victims of white slavery. (In 1935, the BOI became the FBI.) The White-Slave Traffic Act (Mann Act) of 1910 prohibited so-called white slavery. It also banned the interstate transport of females for "immoral purposes". Its primary stated intent was to address prostitution and perceived immorality. The Supreme Court later included consensual debauchery, adultery, and polygamy under "immoral purposes".

another article that talks about it. Here is a funny quote about Louisiana
quote:
One historian has remarked on the incredible fecundity [of these new women] and the tragic infertility of the prostitutes, as almost all of Louisiana's most important families of French descent trace their origin to the former while none claim to have descended from the latter."

It really is about the old guard on this one. More and more, people don't care what you do behind closed doors. I'd love to see this put on a state ballot just to see where it falls.
