re: If police brutality is so rampant and a 'disease' that's tearing the country apart...

I'm skeptical you'd march for anyone, honestly. There are tons of examples of police using excessive force. There were five or six deaths in 2014 or 2015 that related specifically to calls about mental health, which ended up in the deaths of the people who were having the episode. One example is Tanisha Anderson, who was having a psychotic episode, and ended up being slammed on the concrete, dying as a result. Is that the sort of brutality that would lead you to "march"?
It's odd that all of these seem to matter less than Floyd, Mike Brown, etc. I don't disagree with you though.

And Tanisha was kicking officers, a felony, so she won't do.
She was charged with a felony? Or are you just trying to find a unicorn to justify your a very narrow argument?Tanisha was also unarmed. People in mental health episodes are commonly difficult to deal with, which why the cops are called in the first place.
Bettie Jones in Chicago in 2015 is not really a case of brutality, as she was killed accidentally. As was Felix Kumi. And India Kagar.

Not surprising that you can't put two and two together.

Progs are convinced police are out to kill black folks and they'll listen to nothing that disputes it.

Conservatives don't listen to anyone. At all. Ever.

what about the baby or kids police have killed in raids> or car accidents

I can understand police protecting themselves in cases where suspects have weapons, but the cases where people were killed while complying or unarmed are completely egregious to me, and I don't know why more people don't talk about them. Especially with regards to mental health, police are ill-equipped to handle those situations in lots of cases, often escalating the situation.

Stop killing black males. Its a simple request. As basic and human as it gets.

There's little chance you will even interact with a cop if you're not commiting a crime (regardless of your race). It's pathetic to see these media idiots hype up complete bs narratives without being challenged and then watch the reaction play out so predictably. This country is dead, a pale reflection of what it used to be

So we can still kill white folks, Latinos, and black women?
Posted on 6/1/20 at 11:18 pm to crazy4lsu
I personally don't know enough to know the solution to that, but I believe it's likely a function of the fact that you have very low barriers to entry to be a law enforcement member in this country. And we basically have to. They are also generally armed, conducting millions of adversial interactions with a population that inherently skews way disproportionately towards the criminal population.
Substantive, wholesale reform is probably impossible and not even a desirable solution because you are dealing with an innumerable amount of police departments and communities across the country. We have the Constitution and we have certain laws at the federal level that are designed to achieve equal protection. I haven't seen much in the way of legitimate ideas from anyone that seem to do more good than harm.
Obviously my opinion is irrelevant and nullified because I'm a racist bigot or whatever.

Roger, nine (9) unarmed black males were killed last year by cops
We need to get that down to zero. At least.
I’m gonna go break into Lululemon now.

Are you saying it’s ok for cops to murder someone if they have a criminal background? Even while in handcuffs lying on the ground?

The only way to minimize it is to minimize police contact with citizens.
There is no other answer that works, yet these do gooders will continue to vote for more laws and regulations.

Please find me a police brutality of a non-felon, I'd like to start a march for that guy.
This is a going to be a difficult non sequitur to hold on to.

The way to minimize police contact with citizens is to legalize Marijuana.

In terms of mental health episodes, something like crisis response teams formed by local hospitals could help, but the real issue is that there aren’t enough psychiatric beds in this country, and the number has decreased by 500,000 since the 1950s. Police aren’t equipped with the training to deal with those situations.
In terms of limiting police, something like doing away with no-knock raids would be a good start. Doing away with civil asset forfeiture would be great too while we are attempting to reform the police. I have other ideas too, but I’m also not someone anyone is going to listen too, ultimately.

Tip of the iceberg. We are so overregulated and over legally slated that it's ridiculous.

My criminal record is pretty minimal. But the bossier police officer that slammed me against the back of my car and pointed a gun at me for running a red light (California stop at a red light / right turn) in front of my son when I was not resisting or anything is overreacting to the "crime". I did not deserve that. I deserved a red light ticket.

Let’s talk more about this criminal record. You got a record. You get treated differently. That cop knew about you before his boots hit pavement.
