If humans suddenly disappeared, would nuke/chemical plants explode/meltdown?

Came up in a discussion of the hypothetical "last man on earth" or "last group of people." If mankind suddenly vanished except for a few survivors, we'd only have electric power running for a short time. Would the nuke power plants and chemical plants implode or meltdown without crews and power?
Chlorine tank cars would eventually rust and release their cargo (along with that of other chemical tank cars).
My position was that if a few people survived, environmental disasters would almost certainly eliminate them in short order.

Well this certainly puts a dent in my idea of moving into a nuclear power plant after near extinction in order to take advantage of the warmth from the reactor.

no one would be here to know if they did.

Fail safe mode for most plants. Leaks from tanks would start small and be spotty across land.
That would be the least of their problems.
Watch Nekkid and Afraid if you want to see what life would be like after supplies ran out.

Shouldn't we be more concerned about why mankind suddenly disappeared?

Discovery or TLC used to have a show depicting this exact scenario, I forgot what happens though

If only a small group survived, they should have plenty of food and water for a while (just raid grocery stores).
A pall of radioactivity would certainly be a big hazard.
My question was - would fail safe shut the plant down when the power grid started failing?

There's a show called life after humans (or something like that) that goes into what would happen in 1, 10, 50, etc years after humans. It's pretty interesting. The fail safe thing would work for a time but would eventually fail and meltdowns would happen.
One cool thing was how fast cutzu vines would completely cover Atlanta.

There's literally an entire popular television series dedicated to this very topic that discusses nuclear in the first episode

Well, if I was the last man on earth I would definitely drive the country with a radiation detector on all the time.
and be lonely.

No - lots of safety trips and shutdown sequences are built in.
