Nowadays people can't even shop without being on the phone. If something takes two hands to pick up, frick it.

My wife is a pain in the arse with this .

We can’t ever walk into a restaurant without her yapping on the damn phone while ignoring the hostess or waitress.

There are people worse than speaker phone people. People that walk around grocery stores or other public places with their phone blaring music.

It’s not private if it’s on speaker in public.

I had the biggest laugh once at an auto dealership in the waiting room. Older woman, maybe 65, talking about her vaginaplasty and how it looks like when she was 18.

The rest of her looked 65.

Go overseas and speakerphone is the rule rather than the exception. I hate it, especially in airports which are bad enough on their own.

I don’t even talk on the phone around others if I can help it. I go somewhere private/away from others.

You have to talk a bit louder on the phone than you would.in person and I think even that can be really rude.

If the same 2 people were in the same room you wouldn't think twice about it, but if they are on speaker phone it's appalling? I don't get the outrage myself.

It’s so much louder and more distracting on speakerphone. If you can’t see that, you’re part of the problem.

For example, I’m sitting at my gate at the airport currently and cannot hear the conversations of two couples near me, but can clearly hear the speakerphone conversation of some white trash dude twice as far away.

I do the same thing. I'll go outside if I need to talk to someone.

Big difference between "in the car" and "in the doctor's waiting room."

Only time to use a speaker phone in a room where you are not alone is when you NEED to have someone else in the room in on the conversation.

Move closer to the person and pretend to be interested in the conversation. Maybe even start participating.
