I am uncomfortable with the amount of data big tech has on us.

If so inclined I am sure Google could identify all type of criminal activity.

I was watching Madoff documentary and question was why didn't his bank (JPM) report suspicious activity

At some I am sure government types want to use data.

I am assuming or three letter entities already do it illegally

Your data is all for sale . Don't call in a complaint because that company provides the service for free and collects your data. Hell, I can tell when you watched our commercial anywhere with Atmosphere TV and when, and if, you dined at one of our restaurants later

I work tech. Warrants still have to be signed for tracking at any level minus exigent circumstances

Your phone is nothing but a tracking device with some other features included. I thought everyone knew this.

They were able to use the data because they had PC for a warrant.

They can’t do this without some factual basis because of the “fruit of the poisonous tree” doctrine

They caught the dumbass for pinging off of cell phone towers. The affidavit even spells out that turning his phone off, going into airplane mode, or going out of range of cell towers would all disable that particular tracking ability.

But honestly not sure why this is a surprise?

Lucky for us judges give out warrants these days like Halloween candy.

They did that to take out Avon in Season 1 of the wire and they still pulled Stringer Bell's voice off a telephone pole. lol in all seriousness, all of your data is for sale. If its used in the right way to catch murderers (or I guess alleged murderers at this point), which it has been done in numerous cases I guess that is the one silver lining.

Nothing is free.

Any technology that you use for "free" is a technology where you are the product being sold to others.
