Meridian (ID) Police Department School Resource Officer David Gomez responds to a complaint of 2 vicious dogs running at large in a residential neighborhood. In 2014, the agency sent 2 officers to the class Defensive Tactics Canine Encounters, which teaches officers a use of force continuum and confidence in less lethal means during canine encounters, while still keeping the officer, innocent bystanders and the public’s canine companions from harm. Animal Control Officers were not immediately available. Officer Gomez put to the test what he learned in his department training session. Meridian Idaho PD and Officer Gomez set a high bar for fellow law enforcement officers across the nation.

One of my exes was an animal control officer, and never once came close to shooting a vicious dog. She did have to chew out cops and report them to their supervisor on multiple occasions because of their over-agressive actions while she was getting control of a situation

Meridian Idaho, a suburb of Boise is were I live, wouldn't live anywhere else.

Damn misleading cop. Those dogs thought it was going to be a joy ride. Like Muslims, cops can lie to you saying it's a joy ride, but it really isn't a joy ride.

awesome job by the cop. Pitbull really did look like a puppy that was following Cujo's lead. That big fricker was a little too aggressive to disregard. Seemed the pepper spray was all it took to get control of both dogs.
Well done officer.
Well done officer.

If it works on bears, why wouldn't it work on dogs? All cops carry tazers nowadays too. I've never seen someone taze a dog, but I'd rather both of those options than a cop shooting at one

surprised he didn't shoot the black one

nah, just don't see why people wouldn't do a basic search if a story is over 2 days old. Odds are it's been posted already.

Google "Cops tase aggressive dog" YouTube. A couple different & it works great. Pit Bull & Rottweiler are the 1st 2 I see.

His lieutenant is going to suspend him a week without pay for not shooting it.
