Who do y'all follow on Twitter for in-depth hurricane updates? I used to follow crankywxguy but he seems to have disappeared and some weird impersonator took his place.

Insurance market will be even worse if anywhere near takes a direct hit from a major storm. Got a quote last year after Ida for 40k premium on a very average sized house

For those having heart attacks looking at GFS…
Spaghetti yesterday 1800
Today early 1200
That is actually a shift mostly East with continued west outliers

A bad one every 15 years and you’re ready to throw in the towel? You gonna let that keep you from Darrel’s?

Nothing is impossible but it doesn't seem very likely it will be able to swing all the way to LC.
But I really don't want any LA hits because if any place of population gets hit, it will legit wreck our insurance market.

Is it made out of toothpicks?

I don't know what all the acronyms mean, but even 2 of the west outliers (AVNI, HMNI) shifted east, right? Look at where they cross the Yucatan.

I don't think y'all understand how bad Laura was, and how little we got in federal aid.
Then we got Delta, a 100-year flood, etc.

This isn't the late 90s/early 00s anymore.

Yeah. I don’t doubt that.
I’m just wondering what it’s like in a place where the market for homeowners is nonexistent.

Someone needs to add "Stout saying he is leaving the state if another storm hits LC" to the hurricane thread bingo card
Har har har because I say that all the time in these threads, right? I dont think I have ever said it in one of these at least on a serious note. I am serious this time.
Other people have said it as well and it has far more to do with recovery than it does with the storm.
LC has had more than just major hurricanes hit us and the City and Parish always lag behind in response. The Police Jury is still cleaning up drainage from the storms and is doing so at a snail's pace. As far as the city goes the Mayor has been pretty ineffective in getting Fed assistance even currently under Dems that are just printing money. On a state level, Reps and Senators all acted like they were trying to help but very little has been done.
SELA has recovered faster in one year than SWLA has in two. Granted they weren't hit as hard but their leadership has done more. It's embarrassing

That is being generous to me

I could handle one every 15 years if SWLA had effective leadership post storm.

That's because this fricking moron is our rep

Clay Higgins and his people give 0 fricks about LC. The fact that LC voters will vote for him again in November is ridiculous.

Uh, we got hit with the 2nd costliest storm to hit LA 12 months ago and got even less federal aid. Pretty sure we feel your pain

Tough to get money from feds when they would rather send that money to foreign countries
Its easier to steal money when you send it abroad
