I know it's not used greatly for Tropical systems but the Icon should have been running 15 mintues ago and nothing has updated on Tropical Tidbits hopefully not a delay like last night again.

Any way we can crowd source computing power like the old SETI days to get these run faster?

I like Ryan Halls channel for his real time live streams of severe weather but his video titles over the last few months have gotten clickbaity as hell.

My only beef with Ryan is the same one I've had since before he got a massive following....

Watching his streams when the storms are a couple states away is fine. Relying on it when they are knocking on your doorstep isn't the best of ideas.

The people in your local news channel's weather office are from your community. They know the area. They know the people. They are familiar with the tendencies and character of storms in your region. They are bound by responsibility and they have skin in the game because of it. Ryan Hall and team, despite their best intentions, are not. He can certainly do some good, but seeing more and more people come to rely on him for their imminent severe weather coverage is a bit disconcerting.

YT is full of clickbait videos because that's how Google runs their algorithm. Google is a big part of the blame. They promote clickbait videos and wash out any influencer that's respectable. They basically promote clickbait videos because it's more money.

That means anyone who has that as a full time job either gets with Google's algorithm or they don't make money. The way Google handles everything is shite.

I'd heard of Halsey's Typhoon but not the detail in your link. Leveled the horizon in the photo and the list is a tad over 30 degrees. Imagine what 45 degrees plus must have been for hours on end.

Fascinating WW2 Naval history.

It feels like it’s been slow the last couple 00z runs for some reason it should be available after 10:30pm

00z Icon goes across the Yucatán and looks west of where 12z was earlier today. It actually looks like it’s moving WNW at the end of the run at 180hrs

You’re god damned right it is. Every once in a while a man just needs 3,000 calories straight to the dome and nothing delivers that better than a smooshed Big Mac, large fries, an apple pie and a cistern of coke. Mana from heaven. In my younger years when I did a decent bit of camping there was nothing better than that first McDonald’s meal off the interstate as you headed home.

I went fishing and canoeing in canada for 10 days once. Ate nothing but freeze dried food and fish I caught, flew back into Eli, MN and ate at the only restaurant there. A Pizza Hut with Buffett. I cleaned that buffet out

I was supposed to do a boundary waters trip out of Eli for an older friends second wedding bachelor trip. Was scheduled for June 2020 and was scuttled. It’s a bucket list trip for me and hope I get to do it at some point.

I also read once that before people were tricked into eating kale, pizza hut was the biggest buyer of kale because it was used to garnished all their buffets.

So far it's pretty far west into the gulf. I hope it starts the turn. If this does verify, we'd be shitting bricks waiting on this turn.
