Oh my bad, I'm a couple projections behind, I guess. looked like we were gonna take it up the cornhole again.

i'm basically gonna live in fear until I stockpile enough cash to move my family. the homeowner's insurance situation keeps me worried.

it's funny. probably the closest you can get to a LA/MS landfall...without it being a landfall there.

It's somewhere along that Landmass between Lousiana and Alabama.

That reminds me, what's that hurricane guy on Facebook saying? After Fiona didn't end up like he thought I bet he's hyping this to be a category 6 that does a few loops and hits New Orleans 3-4 times

ETA: this dickweed

Interesting, a major hurricane is going to hit the area the Cajuns left in Canada

It’s a major now but predicted not to be upon landfall in Canada.

Local officals are gonna be puckering on deciding evacuations and waiting for the turn on a run like the GFS.

After Ida I think it is clear there are no plans to evacuate New Orleans area ever again.

Though I do enjoy the time after hurricanes because life slows down, I think I speak for all of Terrebonne and Lafourche when I say it’s someone else’s turn to jump on the grenade

frick that I hate the time after a hurricane it's usually miserable. I'd rather be in the hurricane than the aftermath.

Idk man, one of my favorite things about right after Laura was going out at night and being able to see all the stars again without the city lights getting in the way.

Of course that also came with the background noise of dozens of generators running

It was before generators. I was lucky to not have much damage, but slugging beers while helping family clean up and repair while laughing our asses off, not having to worry about school or work, figuring out struggle meals, sleeping with a window unit, etc are all enjoyable to me

I realize that my experience is greatly impacted by the little damage and non-loss of my job (though the conditions since have not been great)

ETA: that first fast food meal after eating like you’re homeless for a couple weeks always slaps

Ida was an absolute nightmare last year for me. I had to make a decision whether to leave and possibly get stranded 100 miles out or stay and hope we eventually get emergency help. Couldn't get emergency services due to the communications being wiped out. That was even after I prepared but I couldn't really prepare for that. Couldn't get back into my home either as it took about a week of cutting through 100ft. tall pines just to make a path to it. Then I had my grandmother in a wheelchair who was on oxygen and eventually died shortly after the storm. It was the absolute worst time of my life never dealing with that shite again.

Ida put the nail in the coffin for me. Was 100x worse than Katrina. I'm not dealing with this shite anymore and putting my family through misery come hurricane season. I'll take any other natural disaster over a major hurricane. Looking back on it, I probably wouldn't be in a bad situation if I didn't take my grandmother with me. Bad thing was I couldn't pick a hotel in Texas because it needed to be something closer to get her transported. Worst thing that happened there is I let her see the damage and she just gave up on life once she saw that.
