Has it sped up any? I've been watching it here all day and I don't think it's moved 100 miles, very Harvey like.

You are correct sir. I have been through Irma, Maria, had Michael pass by and now Ian. I am impressed with new home construction. Solid.

In addition to being concrete block, our home (3 years old) has concrete poured into the blocks with heavy rebar. Zero load bearing walls in the interior. All of the new ones are built this way around here.

Very much false. Cat 1 or Cat 5 makes no difference on your hurricane deductible. The only time the classification of a tropical storm changes your deductible is if the storm's classification goes from Tropical Storm to Hurricane...that makes the difference between a hurricane deductible or all other peril deductible being applied. Cat 5 hurricane would carry exact same deductible as a Cat 1-4

In Florida, the hurricane deductible applies to any wind loss in the entire state from the time the NHC issues a hurricane watch or warning until 72 hours after the watch or warning is lifted. Not only will you be charged the hurricane deductible if you were only affected by tropical storm force winds, you will be charged the hurricane deductible even if the recorded wind speeds were less than the TS miniumum (40 MPH).

Are you telling me they won't offer you a 2% deductible policy?

I am not sure, TBH. I know my previous HOI was with Gulfstream at 5% deductible as well. Gulfstream went bankrupt which went bankrupt after Sally, roughly 30 days prior to my renewal right before hurricane season in 2021. Since no other insurance co would touch me because I still had a pending claim, I got the wonderful Citizens experience, which I hope to move after litigation with FIGA gets resolved.

With respect to the 2%-5%, I honestly didn't know that 2% was an option or even want to see my premiums at 2%.

What I will say is Florida is tough. In all the videos buildings are standing tall and street signs still up. I know they flooding but structurally they are build to better standards. Miami-Dade standards. Good luck guys
