Nash Roberts probably saved my life. We were at hotel on beach in biloxi, before Camille hit. I was a little kid, but my dad worked in New Orleans at the time so he followed WWL. We ended up in Hattiesburg instead of Biloxi when it hit. It was still scary as hell for me.
My dad followed him for hurricanes forever after that. I remember in late 70s, the local stations on Coast included his forecast as a guest forecaster or would add to the forecast but Nash Roberts says this, so let’s be careful etc.
I remember telling my Dad, “who the hell is this fossil guy, come on man?” as this skeleton like guy who looked 90, drew out this shite on a flip board with a magic marker, and he quickly said, “He is the fossil guy that probably saved your life when you were a snotty nosed kid in diapers. SO shut the duck up. “
A dozen hurricanes later, still miss the magic bullet guy.
He was the Master Meteorologist, gone but not forgotten, born a hooded baby that could talk to storms, and knew how to listen to them, there will not be another like him. (Toast)
Like Tesla, some people just know shite

RummelTiger - I'm just here to help. About to the retire from the National Weather Service after almost 30 years of service - I've worked at the Lake Charles/ Jacksonville/ Houston weather offices. Lots of knowledgeable people here. Don't make a fool of yourself...
