Does anyone know if Are they adding on and off ramps to Pecue?

I think I’d heard that before but can’t confirm it.

There's going to be a strange u-turn to Rieger Road thing going on that connects around Basset furniture and Mockler Beverage.

All I know is to tell y'all to keep your eyes ahead right after you've crossed I-10 towards Airline. The cars heading from Airline almost always get too close to the center line and some go over.

It's a very odd bend in the road that isn't well marked. IYKYK

it's because you are slightly turning right in the curve, yet the road is sloped the wrong way, so you are higher than the lane coming at you, so it will naturally pull you towards the center lane. It's incredibly stupid and a miracle that a head on collision hasnt' happened yet.

A divergent diamond interchange. Going to confuse most of the OT posters.

Wonder if they will add a light at Pecue and Highland. Turning left onto Highland is tough. Add in the southeast-bound good Samaritans on Highland who try to let the Pecue folks turn left and it can be a mess.

I'm so glad it's not just me. I had to drive over it a few times before it really sunk it what was happening. And yes, some serious signage needs to be put up. It's definitely an accident waiting to happen.

You can continue to wait and try a dangerous turn, or you could be safe and turn left at Perkins, and then turn right on Highland, while maybe wasting 1 minute in doing so.

According to your link, they still have to build a new bridge over Wards Creek. At the rate they’re going, this project will not be finished for another 5 years and it started in 2017.

Oh absolutely. Often, you would not even be wasting a minute to do that. You can spend more time waiting to turn.

I always wonder if a roundabout would be better/safer at that intersection.

First time I ever went through one was in Lexington this past year for the LSU/KY game. It wasn't confusing at all, but it was also daytime. God help you if the power goes out, or the lights start flashing.

Apparently, construction on the exit/entrance ramps for this project will not even begin for another 2-3 years. They haven’t even began the bidding process on phase 3. This is a project that started in 2017 and probably will not be completed until after 2017. Pathetic…but very typical of LA. Any other state would have had this completed in 2 years.

quote:

Mallett says up next is on and off-ramps to access I-10 from Pecue. However, construction isn't set to start any time soon.

"The next phase is yet to be bid, so once that gets bid we'll go and start phase three," Mallett said. "That's estimated to be two to three years."

Only in Louisiana can we make an almost rural off ramp construction project seem like the Big Dig.

You have to turn left twice to go straight.

What's confusing about that?

Only DOTD could think this makes any sense.

Rieger Road

Is it spelled Rieger or Reiger? Half the time I see 'ie' and the other half of the time its 'ei'. In the maps above its even different on one graphic than the other. My guess is its Reiger, but a lot of people spell it Rieger because Siegen is 'ie'.

The plan on the city website is to put a roundabout at Pecue and Highland. Will certainly make that intersection much safer. I’ve seen several bad accidents at that intersection over the last few years.
