I've had a perfectly fine life here but I've come to the realization fairly recently that I think it would probably be best to get my family out of BR.
We have a 13 yr old daughter and she'd be better off somewhere else. We probably won't stay in Louisiana at all though.

This is way more than just around you. Campaign on no accountability. First, it's "We'll get you your entitled benefits, so you don't have to work".
Now, it's "You want more stuff? It's OK, go ahead and take it, we won't prosecute and we may even fire any police officer that tries to stop you"
The hilarious part is that the people they're pandering to will see the largest negative effects of these policies.

Isn’t that the point? When that inevitably happens the cycle can start all over again. That’s how the democrats keep black voters in line.

I'm starting to think not everyone should get to vote.

They don't have any objective other than immediate gratification. I've heard stories of young black councilmen in small towns in the BR metro area overtly stating that the city shouldn't worry about long term debt in budget meetings regarding rainy day funds. Essentially blow the entire fund in a single fiscal year then worry about money at the end of said FY. They can't handle their own finances but are entrusted to handle multi million/billion dollar budgets.

Why are these people trying so hard to make me a racist? God knows, I don’t want to be.

My wife is from Jefferson and Walker County. She tells me not to judge for the 2nd one

She doesn't want to move back to Alabama. Too close to her family.

They are representative of the people after all. It’s pathetic and getting worse.

There are no more adults in the room. It's like letting children run the school and expecting Ivy League caliber results.

The truth is that this city is past the point of no return. It'll be Ferriday in 10 years.

I think the best case scenario is to build more developed suburbs and try to keep the areas around LSU livable for students.
Take a city like Birmingham. The city proper is mostly a dump but productive people can live in some nice suburbs that aren't an hour away from jobs, restaurants and things to do. We don't have anything like that around here.

I guarantee all those apartments on Burbank/Lee will be 50% Section 8 within a decade.

I lived in Tigerland and off of State Street in the 90s, and although it was mostly old apartments, it wasn't dangerous at all.
I had a buddy that lived off of GSRI at the time. Both of those areas are war zones now.
