I’m trying to be calm after that Leonard shot to win the game and horrible rebounding by the Sixers but why do I sound stupid for not caring about the Rebel flag? I’ve traveled places in this state where trailer after trailer had that flag waving, and I’d wondered what I’d do if I broke down and had to
knock on one of those doors for help.
I probably wouldn’t do it.

But at the same time one of those people would probably drop everything to help me get back on the road. I choose to see the good in people my guy. I’m not trying to change your mind. You feel how you feel about it. No one is ever gonna change that.

We’re not gonna see eye to eye on this so let’s agree to disagree and have an understanding.

I'm fully aware that it was called a segregation academy back in the day. It was a great school though.

One of my best memories of HS was sparked by the David Allan Coe thread last night. I used to to be in love with a girl named Sally that went to Silliman and our experience kind of went along with his music

This thread? Maybe if you're bored. It's not nearly as good as the shark life one

Not the Rebels anymore. I’m sure you know that was a big stink. I know a lot of those late 70’s early 80’s Rebels.

Didn’t think it would get this long but I gained some great insight. Definitely taking my my off a team that couldn’t rebound to save their live and a center crying after the game that he barely showed up in.

Husky you are a black dude that posted a thread saying that you don't give a shite about the Confederate flag. That's what 40 page threads are made of

Poorer whites may have the belief they are where they are because of African Americans...just a wild guess, have never asked but don't believe I socialize with poor whites to ask.

You don’t, he’s just as close minded as a true racist. I no longer have a rebel flag and got rid of anything rebel flag related. But yea, when I was in my teens I use to have shirts, bumper stickers, and even a bandana.

This is what made me post. Back when I had all that I once stopped by and picked up a black family stranded on the road. Took them to Walmart and they got a battery and I put new one in for him, all in heavy rain. I had a confederate bandana on and he shook my hand once all fixed up and said I got to admit, your type was the last I’d figure would help someone like me and my family out, and pointed to my bandana. We both just laughed. I was probably 17 or so and didn’t know how to respond but he was very friendly.

Fact is the flag is just a symbol for having pride in being from the South. Anyone making more out of it (on both sides) are just idiots. And yes, 100%, wealthy Southerners only value money, they couldn't give two shits about Southern heritage.

one of the few times I'll get personal on here, but I grew up in a home that would not tolerate racism or racist slurs, both parents were depression kids and clawed out of it to make a pretty decent life, my parents helped several black people start businesses of their own and helped them develop them, I was in junior high school when desegregation began, it was terrible for the school system initially

My entire school was covered in them. Yearbooks, cheerleader uniforms etc. We never thought twice about it. It's become taboo recently. This was our basketball court after the flood. And no we weren't that good when I was there

Those Rebel Flag cheerleader outfits were legit. Barely went below their panties and as horny teenage boys we hoped they wore them every Friday for Pep Rallies. '92 yearbook for the 25th anniversary was a rebel flag on front and back for Central Private.
